Just thinking that in this current climate of people slagging the Scoob (in its various forms), crime etc, poor residuals, etc.....

Just think why you bought the car...

I'll go first (as it's my topic!!)

1. The sound - on my 2nd Scoob now. I STILL love the sound!

2. It is still a head turner. For both followers of the marque (how many of you still rubber-neck when you see one?) Even my wife (non-scooby follower) notices them and waves.

3. The great performance. Compared to most cars, it is a force to be reckoned with. Even in standard trim. The only real cars that could contend tend to either be modified or more expensive (in general terms)

4. It does actually look OK (IMHO) in all variations!

5. It's comfy and relatively decent inside the cabin (compared to high-spec cars of the same price range)

6. After seeing Scoobynet, SIDC and IWOC, meeting lots of fellow enthusiasts, I've made a few good mates too (Danny-no-mates!!)

Can anybody add to the list?

Dan

PS no b1tching please - no "it use to such a good car" or "it use to have such an elite following"...etc.....

This is meant to be a feel-good post

Like in Evo this month

Next to drop out (2nd) is the STi...
But it retains the Impreza's basically benign character... "You can just take absurd liberties with it. You don't have to have any tremendous driving ability, but you can keep pace with a (porsche) C4S."
And that's a bad thing?

Second best engine note in the world after a tuned Rover V8.....

Stunning looking car in nearly all guises (except bug - sorry!)

Getting easier to tune, and well into cult status.

..... all that, and I'm a cossie man!

agree with Richardpon but it does not need to be a rover just a V8.

why did I buy the scooby.

cos at the time not many people knew what they were, it was quickish, fun & reasonable cheap to buy insure

Barge - good reasons for why you bought the Scoob....

Do you still have the Scoob? If so, why? Does it still give that same buzz from when you bought it?

Just thinking with all the bad press, what's the reason/s why Scoob owners still have the car?

See where I'm coming from?

CHeers,

Dan

yes I still have the same scooby after more then 3 years, its still fastish, its good 4 doors & a boot so is a practial family saloon, the car owes me nothing, its only costs are insurance [boo] petrol better mpg than my escort by a long long way, road rent [boo] & mot

I still like driving it, the average person still is not sure what it is, only problems I get is every nova/bmw 318i wants to race it to prove there car can out run a scooby, yer right dream on looser

But what made you choose the STi7 over a WRX or classic (did you have a classic beforehand?) or Subaru, for that matter?

How does the STi compare to your other car?

Its gotta be the fact that it is a wolf in WOLF's clothing!!

2nd is the 'BURBLE'.

3rd is the fact that other drivers on the road respect the pedigree of the car, and if they don't, they very quickly do

People saying "Oh, it's quite fast..."

...then you press the accelerator and everything goes quiet!

and the mean front end....

and starting it in the garage....burble burble...

and walking through the car park thinking there's no car I'd rather have near there!

(can't stop thinking of reasons now )

Because my wife said , after the old Orion 1.8ghia, I don't mine what car you buy as long as it's got four doors couldn't afford an AMG so my first Scoob MY99 .
My wife did comment when first geting in " Looks very nice and comffy but whats the bump in the bonnet!!!" I took off a bit smartish at a set of traffic lights and had to stop for her to be sick She now knows what a turbo does
I have to go to pick the daughter up from school by Scoobydoo's college car park I have haad 20 offers of sex and 4 were from girls

well the reason i bought mine was:
1. My son loved them to bits, ever since playing gran turismo
2. i needed a new car
3. when i took it for a test drive i was stunned!!

And the reason its still with me
well it seems to get better with the day, and my son keeps finding new things for me to get to make it better!

So you people who are regretting buying your scooby, dont put it on here, go to the RS forum and tell them, they'll like it better
