Wants a JDM Sti 8....
#3
Off to Top Marques website!
However 202 is bugeye - wants the new JDM 8 as it has revised engine, twin-scroll turbo and gobs of torque out the box...
...it will probably be cheaper then the UK car too boot.

You bugger Trout, dont get one, because that will make me want one even more than i do already
I sure when they were announced it was litchfields that pete croney was talking with on here. He was on about the full blown one with adjustable centre diff etc.
IIRC it was about £27k.
Steven
PS If you do get one, can i have a go in it

Some of the prices on my Japanese STI page are a little wrong, it will be updated early next week along with more pictures etc.
The top of the range MY 03 Impreza WRX STI (with Driver Controlled Centre Diff) is £26,495 OTR including Warranty, RAC Trackstar and CAT 1 Alarm
Driver Controlled Centre diff also has an automatic mode and works with the new ABS system. It also features a 13:1 quick ratio steering rack, Bridgestone RE070 tire, Front Suretrack LSD and Rear mechanical LSD
There is quiet a few differences between the RA models but the basically have the following:
Japanese Specification MY 03 STI Type RA
Active valve control system
Intercooler water spray with auto mode
Twin scroll turbo
Ball bearing turbo
Cross ratio 6MT
Driver's control centre diff
Front LSD
Rear mechanical LSD
Tire Size 205/55 R16
Steel Wheels
Hand Brake turn helper
Facing piston brake
Mesh front grill
Smoke type headlamp
Sporty bumper
4 lamp head light
Aluminium front Bonnet
Hood air intake large type
Roof ventilator
Drivers Airbag
Metal type panel
Sports meter
Red illuminate meter
New platform
Different Sub frame offset
Interior rim absorbing shock
SRS dual airbags
High mount stop lamp
In addition to the above the 17” Model features the following:
12 Litre Intercooler water spray with auto mode
Additional engine oil cooler
Automatic centre diff control
Super sports ABS with EBD
Tire Size 225/45 R17
BBS alloy wheels
Brembo brakes
Normal STI interior
Optional Rear spoiler
Phew
Give me a call/email Rannoch and I'm sure I can sort something out for you

The 4.5k difference between the 16" & 17" Spec C isn't entirely due to the rims - the 16" version hasn't got Brembo brakes & have 'taxi' spec seats. The 16" rims are made of steel.

as nobody has pointed out the obvious;
The 16" version is without all the nice crap, so you don't have to pay for stuff you're going to bin when building a rally car.

Interesting conundrum with the Jap spec cars. Prodrive build their Group N cars left hook unless you ask specifically for RHD - something they charge a few grand extra for.
The fact that the cars are cheaper as LHD tends to imply that they are importing pukka LHD base cars direct from Japan rather than converting right-hookers. If that's the case, LHD jap spec base cars should be available in both 16" and 17" forms, as both cars have been homologated - one for gravel and the other for tarmac.
If, OTOH, Prodrive are importing right hookers and converting them over here, their policy of charging *extra* for an RHD Group N car takes the p*ss, as they should really be charging a bit less...

No, Spec C is only available in JDM version, so no LHD.

The Spec C road car is only available in RHD (i.e. JDM), but the group N version is available in both RHD & LHD.
So, LHD is available, but not in road car form & only from Prodrive as a fully preped car. The base cars that are shipped to Prodrive are probably different from the road cars, in that it isn't fully assembled.
Unless u know someone in Prodrive, or u want a group N car for road use, then u can't get a LHD spec C.

I suspect that Prodrive use a LHD shell as a start point - I would be surprised if the full on rally cars are based on anything other than a bare shell. Why would they - they have to strip it down to the bare metal anyway to seam weld it.

Subaru don't do Shells so if you roll yours you can't buy one
No insider info but After a visit to Prodrive Prodrive are the only ones to be able to import Shells into the UK. They jig them up cut loads away, weld in bits and pieces and bobs your Uncle a WRC. IMHO
Not sure of a group 'N' car though
