Last weekend i was driving through the lovely town of Chesterfield when THUD THUD Bollox.

I hit a rather large raised manhole cover followed within a few milliseconds by a rather large change in tarmac height. (why did my Xenon bulbs blow just before, standard bulbs suck *** )

Result is 4 knakered GOLD MiM's.

If you ever want to see some square wheels, i have a set.

So i am now driving around in a Sonic Blue STi5 Type RA V-Ltd with Silver wheels on. It looks boring by comparison to my GOLD set.

Can anyone get me out of pslewis mode (aka boring git) and into some GOLD 7x17" wheels? I need my scoob back to normal asap!

But silver are my track set, and i find it really hard work keeping the speed down with these on. It's far better for my licence to be in pose mode with the GOLD set on.

Can you not claim from the Highways department?

Put one of those no win no fee companies to some proper use, rather than all the fake whiplash cases we all have to pay for with our increased insurance premiums (rant over!)

i wouldnt do that, it's my fault in a lot of ways, as there was a sign saying raised manhole covers. I just didnt see the ******* i hit coming. ****ty weather, ****ty lights covered in rocksalt etc.

It would have helped if the *******s had put some tarmac little ramps on the raised cover and change in height like they normally do, but no, it was a 90 degrees hit, even at just 20MPH it killed all my wheels.

John, visit your local debenhams I hear they are giving them out FREE with Gold Handbags!!

I NEVER took you to being a Funny Fella?? I guessed you as a straight all action hero, not a Queenie!!!! Oh My GOD

You look a man on the track - but on the Highway you 'Come-Out'?

Chesterfield, lovely town ... you sure ?

On a more serious note, I suspect you may well be able to claim off the highways dept for the damage done, my mum had a very similar experience in a council car park where they had left sizeable pot holes and her car needed just the one new wheel & tyre.

Easy to blame yourself, but not so cheap!

Definately worth looking into a making a claim, probably against the contractors. Yes there was a warning sign, but you had no option to avoid the manhole (traffic conditions etc) and the unprotected edge of the manhole frame damaged your wheels. It seems simple enough to me.

Ouch, nasty one that john, are they not repairable?

I don't know if your interested, but would you like a set of Forged Group N spec OZ Super T's like mine? I know that they're a little heavier than your Mims, but I've clouted a pot hole or two with them and for once the alloy escaped unscathed, even if it did blister the S02

7.5 x 17 ET45, gold, I think I paid 145 each plus the vodka...if you want a set I'll ask Pat to ask Beavis if there are any in stock

John,

Claimed for an exhaust downpipe of another car because of the same problem. The council will put you in touch with the contractor who should by willing to come to some arrangement. They have to "put some tarmac little ramps" to ensure things like this don't happen.

Try it !

Dave.

thanks for all the input guys. Tim, if you could find out, that would be great. I have mailed Harvey also.

The bad news is even on my spare wheels with my tyres swapped, i have a vibration, so i may have killed my brand new SO2's too, this is getting very expensive.

I dont think i have bent a hub as there is no pad knockoff or pulsing through the brake pedal. I need to get another set of wheels and tyres on the car just to confirm that my tyres are dead too.

I would be amazed if the wheels would straghten Tim, 2 of them may, but the other 2 that took the manhole cover and tarmac change impact are incredibly bent, its amazing the tyres didnt deflate on impact.

If the tyres are dead, maybe its time to try some 18" wheels and tyres on my STi5 Type RA V-Ltd. No idea what you mean Hoppy.

yes i have, £900 is a lot of dosh to fork out just before xmass.

I need to borrow some wheels just to give it a run up the motorway and see if my vibration is gone, before i shell out for a new set of wheels AND tyres, my SO2's are brand new. I would look a bit of a **** if i spent all that only to discover i have a dead hub or strut and the tyres are OK.

John if you are struggling, let me know, i have my set of 16's in the garage with original bridgestones on.

Let me know, and i could meet you at one of the services on the M62 if you like.

18's sounds like you need some, how wide were the wheels you had, 7's or 7.5's?

Steven

John,
Try Selectra tyres in Bredbury (virtually opposite the Robinsons brewery, next to the Texaco garage) as they did me a very good deal when i got my alloys

LOL John.

I think if that were the case you would no longer have an 4ss as it would've been on the floor. Painful
