Red face

Hi Guys. I have just got my self a standard 00 model turbo and I'm starting the long process of doing it up but I accidentally knocked the front number plate off last night and I can't seem to get it off. Can anyone help me out?

Cheers

Jake

Could you clarify what you mean, as you've said you knocked the plate off, and also that you can't get it off.

Question

erm [sykick mode on] r u having trouble getting the plastic nuts unscrewed? Mine had the threads go & i had 2 get local mechanic 2 drill (carefully) the inside of the screw & then prise the rest out with snip nosed plier type thingamies. NB he did **** one of the rear bolt bits thou when doing this but fortunately it was the back so was able to merely stick the new plate on [sykick & probably wrong mode off]

The number plate appears to have a screw with a nut at the back of the plate. The head of the screw on one side sheared off and the number plate is hanging on one screw. I managed to get the nut off the broken side but i can't seem to get the stub of the screw out and the good screw won't come out either. It just seems to twist and then spring back.

Wink

They are rubber/plastic screws, which are a pain TBH.

I just cut the heads off completely, drill out the plastic stup that is left in, use a drill bit that is approx half the size of the screw.

Then you can either get some new screws (as above) from your garage, they should give you a handfull free, remember to get a few white and a few black, just in case.

Due to the number of times i did this, it drove me mad, so in the end, all i did was sit the number plate a bit higher up and use a self tapping screw directly into the plastic mounting bracket. You just need some plastic caps for the screws, again the garage should give you some FOC, black and white required.

Hope that helps

Thumbs up

Thanks Gents. I will give it a bash. By the way, where is the best place to get clear indicators. I stay in the Falkirk area just incase anyone else is from these parts.

Cheers

Paul,
Could you give me a price for them and are they easy to fit?

Cheers
