The quickshift was standard on all RB5's

It makes that shift range from the standard gear change a lot shorter and it feels more notchy. It costs about 300 quid or so for the Subaru part and a little less for a pattern part.

What gets me is they did all the good bits to the RB5 but didn't bother on the UK300. I've had both.

I have had it fitted to the UK300 though as it is so much better than the standard change.

Some drivers don't think it is worth it, but they are always the one's that have never had it. I will always add it now I've had it

Can back up your comments - only just joined the Impreza ownership club, three weeks into WRX ownership and ordered it with a quickshift.

Certainly aids a rapid change, feels good although I haven't driven one without but I did drive my mates Vectra SRi the other day and the gear change felt a mile long (can certainly tell the difference when driving other cars now).

Get it.

Any truth that it tends to chew up the synchro's faster than without it?

Depends on the quickshift.

I have the B&M one from TSL and love it, very, very short.

I drove Simon "I've been in Jap Performance" Burton's P1 and that had the "stadard" Prodive quickshift. I commented it was like shifting in a lorry, difference in travel was amazing.

BTW Simon walked into TSL after trying mine and my go in his car and ordered one there and then!

It's a different 'box in the STi7 isn't it? Mine feels pretty quick as it is... One of the things I didn't agree with in the eCOTY write up was them marking down the STi for the gear change. I find mine pretty near perfect, although it took a while to wear in.

Charlie.
