I posted in Drivetrain but no-one answered.
Please give me an idea because working on the way things are going I could do with sorting out a car pretty smartish.
Also, does anyone know the average APR for HP from a Subaru garage?
Cheers,
Andy

stuff the dealer prices. you can buy a young scoob from the for sale section and save a packet, or get a much newer model for same money. I saved over 4k by doing this over my local dealer. Some may be sold with outstanding warranty. Scoobs do tend to be reliable anyway, unless they have had any risky mods or bad treatment.
for finance look somewhere like cahoot loans www.cahoot.com for flexibility and a low APR.

well that's knocked that idea on the head then - Cahoot say you have to be 21 to get an account. As I'm not 21 till May I'll have to find some other way.
If I can get hold of 11k carloan I'll be on the next plane

I couldn't get a decent loan out of cahoot - and I'm 25!
MBNA Platinum Loan offered best for me (but require you to be 21)
Best of the rest was alliance and leicester who I nearly went to after Tesco's refused me (from 7% at the mo)
All enough for a big ol' load to pay for a new import WRX without the hassle of selling my Sport first
Good luck

The bloke at the Citroen garage my dad went to couldnt beleive that they had denied me car HP and that he had had to have it in his name. He reckoned they give car finance to anyone these days.
As I am under 21 am do you think I am gonna be turned down everywhere - in which case would they let my dad have it in his name even though he already has car finance in his name. He is taking over the payments on my car and having that, so that I can have a Scoob
Hopefully this one above !!

You cant legally finance a car in someone elses name mate.
What I'd do is try for a loan with your dad as a guarantor, you'll probably stand a better chance, dont go applying for loans left right and centre cos it lowers your credit score esp if you get declined.

Thats how Ford did it for my last car. I got denied even with him as guarantor as I had only been in employment for 2months.
The finance was in his name and the car in mine. Obviously he had to come with me to sign etc..
Trying Alliance and Leicester now.

Does anyone actually know someone who has got a loan from Cahoot? Every person I know who has tried has failed including myself. Not that Id take one after seeing their variable interest rates.

i got a loan from cahoot. It was at the beginning of the year though, but a largeish amount (to buy my scoob!).
if you cant get one from them, take a look at www.moneysupermarket.com
they have a list of nearly all the UK loan companies and you can put your figures in and see what comes up.
someone will always offer you finance. Might have to shop around though.
