Got a guy wanting to trade one in, and I don't know much about imports, but does anyone know what a 96P Impreza McRae 555 Special Edition is worth with 84,000km.
Or is ther anyone out there who wants to buy one.
Your advice would be appreciated.

Ian

Question

I thought that the only McRae was the Limited UK edition car (came out in 95).

Is this the one?
GF8C58D 260 WRX STi2 555 5 door Special edition

Dealer has a 1996 McRae up for £9,995 (Subaru main dealer).

Car has approx. 80,000 miles and is "well used" i.e. wheels and paint could do with a polish/tidy.

Has a good plate on it *555 ***.

Not sure mate, its got McRae's signature on the drivers seat and Ringers on the passenger one, and its a 4dr saloon.

Does that help?

Question

Series McRae
In June 1995, to celebrate their winning of both the manufacturers and drivers World Rally Championship titles, Subaru in the UK released a limited edition run of two hundred cars (numbered 1 to 201 - no number 13!) prepared by Prodrive going by the name of the Series McRae. The main improvements over the standard model are:

Special mica blue paintwork
6.5 x 16 inch eight spoke gold Speedline Safari alloy wheels
Pirelli P Zero 205/50 ZR 16 low profile tyres
Recaro sports front seats with open headrests and Series McRae motifs
All seats (front and back) and door panelling retrimmed in Le Mans/Avus material
Factory fitted electric tilt and slide sunroof
Interior numbered Series McRae plaque
Side and rear Series McRae decals
On the road price was £22,999

AFAIK this is a UK only limited edition.

No its not a UK car its an Import.
But is there anyone who know what it is and what its worth?

Its got the variable diff
A boot spoiler like a 99UK car
17" gold alloys
water injection spray
front and rear strut braces

Question

Ian,
it sounds like an STi, the interior could be from a UK McRae car (as they are recaro's) but there wasnt a jap version of a McRae car AFAIK so it sounds a bit mix and match.
(If so i think a car of this age goes for around 8995 with the 52k miles on the clock this has).

Tony

The seats are not the Recaro's from a McRae, they are the same as fitted to most imports, but with grey alcantara and the signatures of McRae and Ringer.

The plot thickens !!!!!!

Question

Hmmmm that it does
The only "other" special 555 edition car i could find is this:-

GC8D4ED 300 WRX STi3 V-Limited 4 door Special edition

You will have to check out www.sidc.co.uk and look under FAQ to find the chassis number and model, but it does sound like the above, there are some "european" version cars out there too but this one does sound like an STi3.

The car should be a STi2 555 Edition.
In most cases the car will come with full 555 graphics on its body, tho some ppl doesn't like them & have them removed.

STi2 555 Edition. It should also come with Speedline wheels.
The car has a 275ps engine as standard.

Alrighty,
If its like mine then its known as a Wrx Sti Ra V-Ltd,
Because its an Ra it has the Lightened Body (Alluminuim Boot Lid, Bonnet, Wishbones etc)Roof Vent, 5th injector and mine has the closed block engine, it doesnt have ABS electric Mirrors or rear wiper oh and the Gearing is very short.
Because its an Sti it has 8250 revs on the Dial, STi Seats, Intercooler waterspray, quick shift, quick rack, uprated pisstons.
Because its an Sti Ra it has an adjustable Diff.
The V-Limited is to do with the fact that Subaru one the Manufacturers Title that year due to Colin McRae Winning the World Rally, So the released this special edition, Mine has the signatures on both front seats, a rosett badge on the Boot lid
Heres mine in a wee bit of detail:

The detail in the GC8 number isnt very clear

My advice if you have any query about a model then get the GC8 number from the engine bay and post it up here an we will help out.

Hope this helps a little, in fact now that i think about it will only help if you have this model, if it isnt then its definately the WRX STi2 555.
Jay
