Cars owned from age 17 (1992) to now:

1 Fiesta 950 Van (totalled 6 weeks after test)

2: 2 Mini's in succession (both sheds)

3: Escort XR3 (W reg-horrible)

4: Nova SR (quick when you're 18)

5: Nova GSi Group N rally car (doubled as a road car and rally car: used to do a BTRDA event on Saturday, wash it on Sunday, remove numbers & drive to work on Monday. Still exists today: 50 plus forest events, same shell, head never been off)

6: Astra GSi Group N rally car (ditto. Totalled it in Kielder, last stage of Pirelli International 1996)

7: Ford Capri 2.8 Injection (still got it)

8: Nova GTE (head cracked, so sold it to local girl who, unbeknown, was an expert kickboxer. Doh!)

9: Golf GTi 8v Mk 2. (Superb, very low mileage 1 owner car. Got torched by vandals 3 weeks after selling it)

10: Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo MY95 (pride and joy for 2 years)

11: Subaru Impreza 2000 Turbo MY2000 (first new car)

Hmmm - only a few...

Fiesta 1.1 - Brilliant condition - saw it last year - still going - but severly knackered

Peugeout 405 GRD Diesel Estate - The most comfy car I have had - The most reliable as well, and it had electric windows - and the seats went down

Fiesta XR2 - did ok till the fog lights fell off the front - with a little bit of rust - and lots of welding underneath.

Fiesta RS Turbo - Well I thought I'd give it a go - it was fun - the quickest car I had driven so far and good turbo fun - went well. Sold it for 2,000 less after a year - work that out.

Impreza STI IV type-R - Definitely a good choice - but I have no idea where to go from here?

Interesting to see how some people got to Scoobies, goes to prove it takes all sorts!!!

Anyway, here's my twisted list, in order (I think)

1978 Chrysler Sunbeam 1.0 - (later became a 1.6 for Road Rallying) Better than an Escort (Good rear suspension, less on the road and shorter)

1967 Mk 1 Mini - After said Sunbeam got trashed on road rally

Sunbeam back again!!!!

1983 Mk 1 Fiesta XR2 - best ever Fiesta it handled

1983 Cavalier SRi - With Alloys and Recaros, before they took them off - still remains a good all round car

1971 Ford Escort Mexico Rally Car - Great fun, got to do it at least once!!!

1988 Mk2 Golf 16V - A classic loved every minute

1988 Mk2 Fiesta XR2 - Hated every minute

1991 Vauxhall Astra 16v - great engine, twitchy chassis. Typical Vauxhall - big tyres=good grip, but no finese

1995 Toyota Carina E - Horray - not for the Toyota, but my first Company 'motor, cheap motoring at last!!! Only a rental for a couple of months. No grip, great 4 wheel drifts possible on wet roundabouts

1995 Rover 416 - Another loaner - actually quite good, but only for 2 months

1995 Peugeot 306 XSi - My first permanent Company motor - not mega quick but amazing balance. Still could give more serious cars a hard time on dry twisty bits

1998 Vauxhall Vectra SRi - Change of job, not my choice, already on the fleet - but not as bad as Clarkson says. Not much fun, but quick enough, well specced and comfy.

1998 Audi A4 1.8SE - Another change of Company, another loaner

1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo - opted out of car scheme. Bloody marvellous

Mercedes C230Kompressor on order from Company Scheme - must be getting old.

Will I keep the Scooby as well ;-)

Wake up guys, I've finished

Jake:
How the hell do you get to insure the cars you've had?

Next comment not aimed at you BTW.

I've always wondered how the max power brigade acutally manage to insure thier cars, let alone how they afford to build them in the first place.

Not SIDC member yet but will get round to it.

1980 (V) Mini 1100 Special (pile of s**t but at least I learnt how to fix cars)

1986 (C) Nova 1.2 (that bl**dy awful saloon shape)

1989 (F) Nova GTE

1991 (J) Mitsubishi Colt GTi (great engine but handled like a shopping trolley)

1995 (N) Subaru Impreza turbo (in a different league from anything before it)

1998 (S) Subaru Impreza turbo (a big improvement even on MY 95 model)

My list in order of obtained (starting from age 17):
Honda MTX 125 (Motorcross replica)
Suzuki TS125X (Motorcross replica)
Suzuki RG250 (Little 2 stroke race-replica thing as cars were for girls)
Then wised up after parents would refuse to let their daughters out on the back of it....

Fiat X1/9 (Hairdresser's car to impress the girlies).
BMW 323i (Quick, throaty straight six with questionable wet weather handling).
Golf Gti Mk I (Sweet chassis, slow compared to the BM)
Scirocco (Non descript)
XR2 Mk I (Handled and went as good as the Golf but rattled / squeeked just like that VW add took the pith out of)
MR2 Mk I (What a car, I kept this for three years and it was the first car I modified. Handled like a go-kart and revved like a banshee (redline at 7700, rev cut out at 7800 - 100bhp at wheels)).
Then the others you know about as I have still got them (the Cossie I have owned for SEVEN years and four girlfriends....!)
