looks like it sticks out into a car park actually.
Is that still classed as highway
looks like others have scraped it too, by the debris left round it.

Tony, try and get as many pics of it as you can, different angles etc.. 'the council' can try some rather devious tricks to get out of paying..
'its the angle you took the photo Sir'
No one likes to see that mate

Will you keep us posted Tony??? It's exactly the sort of thing where it's really useful to find out, in case one has a similar problem oneself! And even better if it's then kept in a Golden Posts Forum......

i think you might have a case for a claim (imop) the roads are ment to be keped clear for the trafic to use ( by your local council) and it sticking out on to the road is not keeping it clear now is it .

i may be wrong....but i think your pushing the whole A.W.D thing a bit far taking on a rock like that...easy thing to do...drive up the road the other way and do the drivers door in...you then have flashes...not damage...kinda adds to the cars look in a way..gives it that used look...and the 02 needs all the help it can get on the looks front..cheer up...its xmas..p.s - id be on the phone wanting some $$$$$ from the roads people..or..you drop it of in the middle of ther entrance and see how like trying to squeeze by it..
