On Christmas Day, I was driving along the A12, which was completely empty - hadn't seen another car for a couple of miles and none up ahead, so decided to floor it.
Just as I was reaching 120, noticed a ploice car up ahead which was parked sideways on a layby. Let off the gas and braked down to 90 and passed it.
I was expecting the lights to go on and for it to pull me over, but it didn't! Does this mean i got away with it???
Help appreciated,
Mark.

The thought had crossed my mind, but I couldn't see if there was or not. The way it was parked was a little odd (sideways) so it may have just been parked there to slow people down. If it was, it worked!

Was coming back from London on the M40, came round a bend near Oxford, as I come round notice there has been an accident on the side of the motorway, Police start running into the motorway and gesturing at me furiously.......I was doing 152mph!!! (there were no other cars on motorway!).

I got stopped on the m40 for speeding a few years ago
I was told that I might be 'okay' driving at the speed I was doing, but he said a very valid thing to me
It isnt big or clever to speed, and next time I do speed, if I happen to have a blow out or am going to crash, could I please head towards the central reservation, as it makes there job much easier picking my body parts up, and they then stand a chance of identifying me
And that I might not 'give a t*ss' if I crash, but to think about someone else I might happen to plough into, or who might crash into my wreckage
Scaremongering yes, but he had a valid point
and it was an empty motorway I was on when I got caught
it slowed me down on the motorway to a more acceptable speed

You've got away with it by the sound of it..
Its usually fairly obvious if its a mobile unit.. The police tend to outsource it now to white vans with Mobile camera unit signs all over them...
If it as a normal traffic car they would have had to do you with a laser gun and then come after you.. Normal police cars dont have the equipment to take speeds/license plate details... these are done by special units
If you'd actually overtaken an unmarked police car at 120mph and realised this straight away that may have been different.. though you'd have probably got away with it as how fast would they have been able to prove you were doing as they would not have followed you... perse..

Don't forget the feds montior this message board and I wouldn't be surprised if one day they start tracking what is said and using it as evidence, as they don't have any other important crimes to solve e.g. murders etc!!!!

Beanchimp,
What you said it very good sense, and it is easy to understand what the Copper was saying at the time. Bob Peru must be an absolute maniac and certainly very selfish to take the risk of those sorts of speeds on the public highway, clear road or not. It certainly impresses nobody to swank about it to the rest of us. And before you start smoking Bob Peru, I am well used to very much higher speeds than that, but never on a public road!
