I thought it was great (as always) but missed the technical installment that we usually get (i.e. Turbo's, suspension etc).
Maybe next edition?
I keep trying to think of something decent to say so that I can contribute but as you all know by my posts on here, I'm either controvertial or boring most of the time!

BTW, how cool did that rally car look!

Thumbs down

True Grip is always excellent, but 6 pages of the 16 pages on the Tour of Mull was a little excessive in my opinion.

We did think about running the Tour of Mull over two issues, but felt that it was so well written that it should go as one. It was quite heavily cut from what we started with !!

I'm handing the Editorial role of True Grip over to Gareth Jones, from now on. I will still be involved and am still writing technical articles, but feel that some fresh direction is needed.

I read a Vauxhall owners club news letter, some years ago and dreamed that we could one day have something similar. I started True Grip as a photocopied 4 page affair and it is already better than the Vauxhall mag was.

I'm sure that Gareth can cajole enough member input to make it even better than it is at the moment.

didn't think much of the article on insurance...not sure whether Mr Egger is actually like that in real life but I object to overuse of the vernacular and the van-driver mentality that came accross in the article. Why is it necessary to swear repeatedly throughout the article - is that supposed to be a reflection of the mentality of the readership? - I hope not. I also think that the overall tone of the item was offensive and implying that insurance brokers are somehow a superior breed to Joe Public - funny I always thought of this the other way round.

hope the editors can do a better job of selecting their contributors in future.

just my own opinion of course, others may have enjoyed the article ???

I thought all the articles were good, and the one on insurance both informative and amusing

I especially enjoyed reading the review on the Tour of Mull, and thought it deserved all the space it got

The editor can't really decide which articles to include, if he only just has enough to fill the magazine.

For example, to my knowledge no-one has submitted an article or photographs of the last Donington event which had over 200 Imprezas attend !

I'm sure the editor would be delighted to have a selection of superbly written articles and photographs for each issue, but he needs members to submit these before they can be printed, and in plenty of time!

Work is about to begin on the next issue due out in 3 months time, and the magazine needs to be complete about 4 weeks before it arrives at you home, so get your fingers typing and finish off that film in your camera

ok - good point ,
shouldn't whinge really as I haven't made any effort to contribute myself... its just some mates pick up the mag when they see it and then ask if it was written by children etc....but then I do have critical friends!

would be nice to read an account of the catalunya trip and similar stuff that I won't be able to go on this year.... anyone feel like taking on the challenge?

cheers,

There will , rest assuered , be a Catalunya Report.

I have just got a digital camera so there may be be some extra curricular rally reports such as The Bars , The Beach Babes , The Cars , The Fights on the Stages ( 1 BIG bloke against five 'lads' and he won ), The P155ed up Spaniards being carted off by the Garda et al.

One very Big Thanks to Pete for All he has done for the mag.

Interested to read the article about the Barrier Deadlock.

I thought my Scoob was the first to have one fitted by Wilson's in Essex and I've never met the author.

If some is going to write something for the forthcoming Donington Track day (5/3/2000). I will be taking plenty of picture as usual and will be happy to supply them.

Cheers
