i would have done the same or probably 10 times worse to the car with the FICTIONAL arsenal of weapons in my boot.
i feel for you. but can't u lodge a police report for damage to property so that there is a reference number and claim the other party's insurance assuming they have any? isn't this a kind of hit and run?
this place is becoming quite depressing, people damaging our beloved cars and police turning a blind eye. so much for taxpayers' money.

Tell the cops that it was done on purpose and you want to press charges for criminal damage.
If not, go back, wait for car with a bat, dent EVERY pannel on it and smash every window.

Go back to the pub and ask if they are regulars.
Wait till they next turn up and accidentally do some damage to his car.
**legal note - I dont condone this sort of behaviour, its the sort of thing a person with low morals might consider**

Thats bang out of order from the white astra *****!
People are so ignorant of others property. I'd have opened my rear (mind its dented and scratched already) onto their car for good measure. It gets attention - mine did, and the person took a surprisingly different view of it. So I did it to them too. Didn't fix the car or situation, but I felt better.

My mechanic friend suggested that I carry a tungsten-carbide drill bit in my glove box for some instant justice. Guaranteed to scrap down to bare metal. Brake fluid is great, but needs to be more discreet when dispensing.

I got moaned at for putting the thread up regarding dents in supermarket carparks, but I rest my case again. I still and always will use two spaces where I can, same for pub carparks and all car parks. That gonna cost u £75 ish for the dent and £100 plus for the paint with Chips away and more if you go for a good body shop, plus the exces won't cover it probably.
Typical Police attitude as well. Rest assured that if ya number plate light is out they'll be on your case with £25 fine as it is so much easier.

Rather than add my 2p's worth of vengence tactics (for once)...
How about this for a refreshing change: -
Went to Cov Showcase last week for a 7.30 showing of Harry Potter. Parked up with a kind of, oh well if it doesn't get nicked it will get dented, dinked, keyed etc. etc. attitude.
The thing is you have to enjoy your car right? I could have driven the other halfs Pug 1.1 but why should I?!
Anyway, film finishes and we come out to the c/p. As I approach the car I can see a chap with a couple of kids and the Mrs getting ready to open up their Vectra. Right next to my Scoob! Arrggghhh...
I blip the alarm as early as I can so they know someone is about and scuttle the last few feet as quickly as I can dragging (almost literally) the other half along.
We get to the car and the guy catches eye contact with me. He smiles and pulls open the back door to the Vectra. Thing is he purposely opened it instead of the kids. He then stood there holding the door so it couldn't be pushed open any further i.e. into mine. Kids loaded, in he gets, reverses out and he is gone.
Now if I wasn't in such shock I may have offered him a friendly wave off or such like. TBH I think he would have done that even if I wasn't there.
For a change then, a short story proving there are at least some people about that are prepared to respect others property and show a little courtesy. Well done that man, I thank and salute you.

Not just the scumbags that do this sort of thing. Even some "respectable people" are not above such morally deficient behaviour. My wife parked her nearly new MG carefully in the city car park and when she returned to it, found a large dent around the petrol filler flap area. She was not completely unlucky that day because someone in a nearby office observed the incident, made a note of the registration and placed it onto my wife's windscreen. Apparently the driver responsible had a good look around to see if anyone had seen him do it before sneakily driving away.
Police would not divulge details but visited the alleged person responsible who denied all knowledge at first. There was an independent witness remember and after further questions he then admitted that it was only a little bump and would not have caused much damage. Despite all this, the Police did not pursue the matter further but provided us with the necessary details and we successfully claimed from him in full. Lot of wasteful time consuming hassle for all involved. Why did the Police decide not consider a prosecution? Probably nothing to do with the fact that the one responsible lived in the posh side of town, was somebody "important" who had blue posters in his window around election times.
The above is just one incident but I could recount several others. In another similar scoobynet thread I mentioned that those agencies we once trusted and turned to for help are now often less helpful and will only pursue the softer targets ... that basically means average Jo honest folks like you and me.
To be fair, I still belive most folks are honest and will be careful or own up when they are at fault. However, they are becoming rarer. Why this dilution of honestry? I think I know why but would rather not say. Signs are everywhere that a higher percentage of the populace are becoming far less trustworthy. Unfortunately, those same signs are also showing that things will not get better. Which again means that only the honest will pick up the tab for this. ... as they always have done but of late, even moreso. I wont even menbtion the main news headlines today .... which look like becoming a regular daily "norm" where once such incidents were very infrequent.

With response to the police not doing anything, unfortunately it's 1 persons word again 4. If someone else had seen it happen (an independant witness) then they would've. Nothing to do with the government or the police being lazy. Thats the way it is (in this case unfortunately)
cheers

POC,
FFS grow up! If you are going to do every panel and the windows, you absolutely have to shred every tyre as well, otherwise he can drive to the bodyshop or auto glazers! When will you learn how to do a proper job! Whilst you are at it pop to your local hardware store and get some of that cavity wall insulation in a can stuff. Great for filling exhausts with - apparently. Not that I have given this much thought....

How about a group buy for body side moulding protector strips? My old Audi have got a massive strip all round and in more than 12 years of ownership, haven't got a single parking lot dent yet. But it didn't prevent people from damaging the front and rear bumpers on different occasions though.

catch a rat, starve for 3 days, then catch astraman, tie him up. cut a hole just big enough to fit in said rat in his stomach, sew back up and leave him tied up, i reckon it will take the rat about 2 days to eat all his insides out. just a thought. guy deserves it anyway in my opinion. thats the reason i have an old xr4x4 and a focus for leaving in places like that. hope this helps ya.
