Sorry for being late :-)
To get good street level detail you really need the MapSource United Kingdom Roads and Recreation CD, which is about £50 I think (if you shop around).
The standard unit will cover main roads, but if you want to see actual road names then you need the above CD.
It is very easy to use the unit.
One word of warning, don't be tempted to run the 're-calibrate' option, as it's really only intended to be run in the factory and then fine tuned. If you do run it you will find the map seems to be slightly off your location. i.e you might be stood at a junction but it shows you 20/30 feet away.
The unit I bought had all the cables and things in, but check the bundle spec because there are some that are just the basic unit and you have to pay for the leads and stuff.
I have to say the download of maps is very slow, but since you only do it once or twice it doesn't really matter.
Battery life is about 6-8 hours if you leave it on all the time and with the satellite tracking on, but you can just use it as a map with satellite disabled for ages.
They really are amazing and for the price excellent value I would say.
I used mine once on a jet going to Sweden and managed to get maximum speed logged as 560mph.
If you need to know anything else let me know and I will try and help.
