Hi guys.no offence intended to anyone on here but, when i encounter other scoobys why is it most import drivers will wave, flash lights etc,but most uk drivers seem to ignore, look puzzled etc. this is just my observation. is it where i live? do any of you find this? do import drivers feel more exclusivity or something? i sat in traffic on m6 other day, bug driver next lane looked accross at me i put my hand up and he looked bemused.he prob thought for next 10 mins who was that do i know him from somewhere... just my thoughts thats all.
cheers, Dug.
cheers, Dug.

i get the same thing. Wave of flash the lights at some people and they just look at you. I waved at someone in a red scoob in kent on friday and he just gave me evils. Then drove up the side of me and tried to speed off in his Uk. Sad git!

You will find that UK Imprezas will be on company car sheets, imports won't.
So, as a general (sweeping statement time
) rule, the majority of imports are enthusiasts, whereas a few UK drivers are businessmen with no interest in the cars. There are some in Stafforshire!!!!

I'm a bug MY02 driver and wave all the time if I can. There's roughly half that don't wave back with bug eyes but the good thing is that most classic drivers wave. When I'm in my Sport I wave but get quite a few snobby stares :-)

It makes sense that more enthusiasts are going to drive imports for all the reasons stated above
But don't write all us UK drivers off yet
, I wave and flash the lights at all Scooby's all the time
After all - I could get an import and then not mod it (as the insurance would become to great) or I could get a UK car and make it my own
Not all UK drivers are company car owners ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)

On a similar thread a while back someone said that the best indicator is if the car's modded or standard. Modded=enthusiast=waver, seems to be pretty accurate.
Got to say though i have still never been waved to by a bugeye scooby owner, even modded ones. <sniff> <wipes away tear>

yep, I find the same round Woking,Guildford way - I've been driving a UK my00 for the last 2 months and only get the odd wave but its generally from an import driver..most of the uk car drivers Ive encountered seem to be oblivious or just clueless.
Had a bit of "spirited" driving with another uk car earlier this week ( not realising he was another scoob at first ) and he just looked down his nose at me at after when I turned to wave...stiff arsed old buzzard must have dropped his pipe under the acceleration.
Still, I live in hope to see more sociable enthusiasts around Chobham, Woking, Lightwater etc... wave if you see an X reg My00 DBM in the area ( lets face it it should be too hard )

I acknowledged a scooby in castleford as you do ![](http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/wave2.gif)
But got the bemused look back!!
We were both heading in the same direction so I tucked up behind him. We had what I thought was a little play nothing aggressive just the usual quick burst.
He then pulled up in a side street so I pulled in behind him thought we could have chat on spec's and the usual
Then he put full lock on and blasted off looked scared to death..lol
Thinking about it He obviously was not an "enthusiast" and was right to do what he did
Never the less I felt pretty stupid

UK MY99.
Wave all the time but nobody has ever waved back yet and I've had the car for nearly 7 months.
Used to have a MG F before the scoob and every other MG I waved at gave me some form of a reply.(usually a nod of agreement that they are always in the garage being repaired)
I'll keep trying !

How the hell do you tell the difference when you are driving along whether it is a UK purchased car, EU UK Import or Japanese Import? If you want my opinion some people wave and flash their lights and some people dont bugger all to do with where they bought the car from. Next you will be asking do more people with dark hair, blonde hair or bald people!!

Scoobyjim, fantastic posting date!!!
STi UK PPP, always wave at Scoobys, rarely get a wave back, except for a WR blue WRX bug-eye last week.
Little Miss WRX, I live in Staffs, am a businessman and have a UK bug-eye, but I paid for it myself (can't afford/justify Tony's tax), does this mean I can't wave to you??? LOL.
