I was beginning to think the old 'scooby wave' had died a death in and around my home town of Hemel Hempstead. After a couple of months of waving to miserable sods who looked at me with a certain amount of disdain, I've had 2 waves in the last 2 days, both initiated by the other drivers. To these 2 drivers I say thank you and hello.

Around here they don't wave - not a bit...
but do you know what I saw the scariest thing - my grannie driving a silver 5dr turbo complete with scarf... last week.... no...it wasn't but it was....she didn't wave...and then there's MR. GRUMPY in a green 4dr on the A30 I always see him at the Windmill Pub as I'm turning right he's going past - does he wave - no - he doesn't - cause he's grumpy and I don't like his face either....

stef does'nt wave in the winter as it shows his open back driving gloves off (got to keep his hands warm!!)

also, biggest problem this time of year is that no bugger can see you waving in the dark!

Bromley is the same, I only ever find the odd driver that likes to wave. Other than that they are all still asleep, even at 19:00.

A legacy waved at me yesterday. Nice to see. Bucks must be the place to be.

For the Hemel Driver. Everyones more concerned with the Magic Roundabout than other drivers.

I hope that wasn't me in the green 4dr

I drive that way occasionally.

I never know if I should wave or not.

get some right dirty looks from some people, so mostly I don't bother unless they wave at me first.

Hello there, have been reading the BBS for some time now and it sure is pretty interesting.I always wave to Scooby drivers and most times I get a wave or headlight flash in return which is nice as I drive an Evo VI.

Do we wave to all subarus and 'Impreza Turbo Class' cars ie Evos (Peugot 206 WRC cars etc) ?????????

You can wave at Supra owners as well. I'll always wave back (I have a nice white MKIII in the Dartford area)

It would appear that anyone who drives a maniac Japanese imported car (Evo / Skyline / Fto etc..) is more than happy to wave at me in my Wrx Sti 4!

Waved at a Scooby with a curious blue and yellow striped paint job. The officer didn't wave back!

Just got my first Scooby on Friday and had two waves already! Kingston(silver 5dr)and Basingstoke(bit too dark to tell but looked silver). My girlfiend(no typo) thinks I'm 'sad', but she doesn't understand.

7:30 what on earth time is that supposed to be.... I'm just bearly prying the other eye open at that time - no it's not you....

The Scooby Wave - Now pay attention

1) has to be cool...
2) discreet
3) either one finger or a thumbs up
just bearly lifted off the steering wheel
4) more enthusiastic members (usually Newbies) you flash your headlights
a) novice newbies flash frantically
b) intermediate newbies - flash once but from several yards away
c) experienced newbies - flash from two car lengths away... okay

but the real subtle (I didn't really see you wave - but managed to lift a finger off the wheel wave - as you're passing) is left to us more experienced scoobie drivers - (don't try this on your own lads..)

Word of warning - Never do the double take - it's a real give away - ie: you're the first scoob I've seen all week...

lol
P

Let's put Pennis reply in the FAQ

10 months into Scooby ownership now, maybe I should stop flashing, my psycharatrist has been on at me for ages about it

I am soooooo sad, whenever I see another Impreza I get goose bumps:"like it was my first time!" All those gents who have passed through adolescence will know what I mean!

I have only once seen another 22B on the road and that was when mine was on a flat back trailer to Power Engineering.

Penni, I'm sure I've given you a wave in the past, but unfortunately now I'm in Kent I'm unlikely to get 'another go'.

Saw a red 4-door last Thursday night on the M20, he pulled off the m-way and then back on, and we were alongside for about 6-7 miles. Didn't wave though, but probably sensible at that speed. There's a lot of Scoobs around where I live now (Harrietsham, Lenham & Headcorn) but a fair few are Sports - I guess because there's a lot of farmers in the area.

I wave at any banzai Jap-spec car. Mostly Scoobs, STIs and Evos though, but I've had a response from the odd Supra. Even got a wave from an Elise, once. My car (a silver STI IV Type-R) has got a new-style SIDC sticker on the front and rear windscreens, plus the SIDC tax disc holder - so look out for me! I always try and wave (and Beth does too, although it's usually accompanied by a comment along the lines of "look, there's another of your stupid car friends" ).

Blatant plug (again): The [b]
