Family Scooby drivers......a question for you.

When the kid(s) are in the car with you(alone), do you find that they ALWAYS want you to end up racing anyone who overtakes you or at the lights from standstill?
Obviously, as responsible adults you show them the difference between "right" and "wrong"...

This is the fast bit of road dad
Quicker, Quicker, Quicker whilst waving their hands like there on a roller coaster
Mums normally in that lane
Just some of the sayings i`ve noticed whilst kids in the car.

My little fella has been playing it up recently.
When it's just me and him in the car he's all "overtake, overtake, go on, faster faster, how about some skids and slides?"
When it's the whole family and I happen to casually overtake another motorist he's "Mummy, daddy scares me when he does that"
WTF?
Kids!!!

My daughter always used to say 'don't go too fast - It took me ages to explain the difference between acceleration and speed '
BUT, now she's 15, all her mates (both sexes) stand and watch when I pick her up and she says 'Burn off, they're waiting to see!'....
OF COURSE, I NEVER DO !
Unfortunately, my son thinks I should race anything that moves!
And they usually say 'Mum goes faster than this;'

Speaking as a "Kid"...definitely!!!
If you've got it use, on the rare occasions (hint, hint) I get out the Scooby I really enjoy being pinned to the seat on the bumpiest roads in Britain.
Adrenaline junkies end of story

When I accelerate hard, I get
'Slow down Daddy, slow down'
From my 3 year old boy. I hope that time changes all that, otherwise I'm worried that I may not be the father

anytime my son is in the car with me, he puts his glasses on, and looks for anygood cars around. then when i approach 6000rpm he says "keep going keep going" (7100rpm) "CHANGE" then he sumhow knows when i'm toying with the car in front or behind, and says "will u stop being stupid and kick his a$$!!!" in fact i'm sure when he drives the car he'll scare the living hell outta me, p.s he's only 14 and knows more abt the car than i do. even told me how to powerslide

Not a speedy one this but, took my 8-year-old lad sledging the other week.
After getting to the top of the snowy mountain road no problem and passing the BMW’s, etc struggling to get up, my Son’s comment was “Can we keep this car ever Dad ?”
I knew where he was coming from and thought, “That’s my Boy” !!!!

The hardest thing is trying to keep the sweets off of the seats, perhaps I should try putting my daughter in the boot !

With the kids in the back drive briskly and overtake safely, yes (Faster daddy, faster !)
Play beyond the limits of grip at high speeds, no...
Not worth it....after I heard about an idiot in a TVR who took his pregnant daughter out for a spin at some car show, then killed her and his grandchild when he crashed it. Unfortunately for him, he survived and has to live with it...

My kids go to sleep when I'm frequently accelerating hard, though I'd only do it where safe to do so. In the RWD Cossie my lad went straight to sleep at the first sign of sideways action, it makes me wonder what the missus used to get upto when he was in the womb whilst I was at work ;-)

My daughter (15 yrs) always wants me to go faster and when we approach a round-a-bout all i get is 'go on get her to wiggle her bum dad' sometimes (when conditions allow) i get the back end out a bit. her reply is 'yeh, you love it don't you?!'
you just have to keep the kids happy don't you?

Ironically enough - my little lad (2.5 yrs) can't stop laughing when i accelerate quickly - makes me laugh as well....
Sorry to hear about that TVR incident though....Poor guy must be living a nightmare.
It could happen to the best of us at any time....

My 9 year old daughter (going on 50) closely tracks my speed vs the various speed limit signs. Any deviation between the two is pointed out to me.
I think she spends too much time with my mother in law.....

My 2 year old loves it when i go fast and especially if i make the noises as we go round corners...screech! though when my wife is in the car he says "careful daddy careful" Strange...
Must have that built in thing that he knows mummy will not like the speed. bet he starts dobbing me in when he gets older..turncoat.

When I had my Scoob I regularly got kids pointing from the side of the road usually always male between ages 10-16. I used to look out the mirror once past to see how many looked round once I passed and they heard the boxer rumble from the SS BB.
Once had to take some girls from our customer services dept out and I over took a car and I heard sharp intakes of breath and then "wow this car can really go". I think I scared them but it was a move that I didnt think twice about. I guess you get used to driving a fast car and to people who drive micras it seems really quick. (even though it was fully loaded and quite slow (I thought).

My Son is on 16 months and the only words (?) I get are Brmmm, Brmmm when big red buses go past.
Still a challenge is a challenge whether its a double decker or a small hot hatch.
