Help before I can't resist
#1
Hi all,
Got myself a new decat d/p(open neck) wanna replace my hks decat d/p with it tommorrow.
Thing is I just checked MOT cert and it's due next week
I have the standard exhaust but do I need to put it on for the MOT?.
I've heard that because my car is a jap import it fits in the same catagory as a kit car?, if so then I could put me new d/p on tommorrow and enjoy!, or in reality should I be putting the standard exhaust back on for the MOT?
Help please, anyone got experience of cat free MOT pass on Jap import?
Cheers
James

If it's on their system then you're possible fuggered. However, by the time you do tte downpipe swap (for the umpteenth time) it won't take you very long. Just use bolts you can access from the top for the heatshield etc.
With the heatshield off, actually swapping pipes only takes about 20mins, say 40 mins for the whole job including getting it on the ramps (as in small drive up ramps).

alternatively, book your MOT via scoobysport (not too far from Kent) and they will swap a catted centre section in for the MOT round the corner.
Costs only about £10 more than a regular (non discounted) MOT.

It was wishful thinking then.
Thanks for the advice
Oh well I better get the standard exhaust on, I was going to try and get the standard d/p to fit my hks hiper system but iirc the standard exh uses those collar style gaskets and i can't see how it'll fit the larger flat hks joint.
