OK,

So at my 45,000 mile service, they told me I've got mild slap in cylinder 4 - not enough that Subaru would fix it (even if it was in warranty).

So do I sell the car as is? Do I tell buyers it's got the slap? Do I get it fixed (what's this likely to cost)?

Doesn't appear to matter whether it's fixed or not - future services will show it up if it gets bad

If I need a new piston fitted - few hundred quid...

Did you know about it before ? Slap usualy goes away when the engine is warm so why not just drive it untill it gets worse ?
Can slap cause any other problems if its not sorted out at the earliest opportunity ?
Ive got a my98 and some times think its got slap but im not sure and if i didnt know that slap existed in these cars i wouldnt even give it a second thought.

My car's tasty gorgeous:

enough so I couldn't sell it properly through the regular channels...

I'd love to keep it - it's a great car, but I've a new one on the way...

It's good, but not that good.

But you're not going to find as good a slap-free sport in Reddish blue than this one (once fixed )

And I'm too honest to not have it fixed... but am glad for the attention that (being the dumb-*** that I am) posting in General has brought me.

Someone wants this scoob - a non-slapper at 6k! Bargin - and cheap as chips!

Sport shouldn't even come into the equation - keepsup with turbos when you know how to drive it... ask John F

Bear in mind that a lot of your buyers now know about your car!

If I was gonna buy a Sport, then it would be yours regardless of piston slap as that is not a big deal. Your car looks mint mate and it's the best possible colour, I reckon that you will get what you want for it.

Cheers mate - like I say, it's mild - apparently Subaru wouldn't operate on it if it was still under warranty.

I'll arrange to have it fixed, unless someone wants to make me an offer without.
