![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Hi all, I have just ordered an STi 8 and a 03 WRX for my other half. I asked the dealer to remove the wheel weights on the rims and get them to balance the wheels and stick the weights on the inside of the wheel.
He said that they they wouldn't do it, so I would have to take the car to a tyre place and get it done there. The only thing is that what happens if this tyre firm take off the weights on the rim and there is damage to the alloy? If the subaru dealer did it then I would get new wheels as I wouldn't want damaged alloys on a new car, or are they speaking **** and they could request that the car comes with no wheel weights on the rim.
Cheers

I think you may find it can't be done on the STI 8, I have an STI 7 which as far as I know has the same wheels and brakes and I know on my car I can't get the sticky weights on the inside of the wheels as they will hit the brake calipers on the front.
Ok on the back though.
Arron.

John, when you took the weights off, was the alloy ok? I checked the clearance and there is enough room for weights but only on the inside edge, as there is not enough clearance between the brakes and alloy on the other side.

Sorry, but if the dealership can't be bothered to investigate it and if possible remedy it when you are spending that type of money then i'd buy elsewhere, it's that simple.

There was a slight mark where the clamp had been knocked on but this came out as part of the preparation for powder coating. I understand your concern though. It is also possible that damp could get under paint finish where external weight is removed.
I suggest being more insistant with garage or go elsewhere
