..mine!! Dyney,Disco and myself kinda had an "issue" when fitting the Dawes device yesterday The result was 2.1bar and wheel spin in 4th at 60-odd mph

..it didnt blow up which was a billy-bonus and was stupidly quick

..now set to a more sedate 1.2 bar..

..any ideas what sort of power 2.1 bar on an MY99 UK car would be?

I am Suprised it did not over boost?

Do you have crap tyres? Was it there ice on the road?

I would be alarmed if a 4WD car was wheelspining in 4th gear!

I would be alarmed if a 4WD car was wheelspining in 4th gear!

Question

Richard,

How long did you run it at this boost?

Did you drive down say a bypass at this boost for example or did you back off/dump the clutch as soon as you saw such high boost?

Damian - I declutched and put it into neutral and coasted into a lay-by and Dyney adjusted the dawes back, so it must have only been a second or two at that boost level..

There used to be an STi in Scotland which ran up to 2 bar of boost. Fully uprated internals, big VF15 turbo etc., but only ever ran this boost on Elf Turbo Racing Fuel. This car could also spin it's wheels in 4th gear, and was rumoured to produce about 450bhp running this sort of boost. For normal fuel/track use, about 1.3 - 1.6 bar was used.

Richard,

On my car when I had the Dawes device it would take a ~ 2 seconds for the fuel cut to come in so I guess you beat it to it.

You must hold the higher boost for a few seconds before fuel cut jumps in.

Red face

Its there for a reason! Only remove/raise it if you have made other modifications that would allow this to be safe.

And I believe that the MY99-00 has a higher cut than the earlier cars too....Anyone know if the MY01-03 has a fuel cut and where it is?

did you throw your boxers away when you pulled into the layby lol. That boost would have scared me stupid.

I've had a held 20psi before (with no det ) and that was mental enough, let alone around 35psi
