General advice on owning scooby

Ok folks its been a long four years but the points have gone so im getting the fastest car i can afford. As the powers that be won't allow me to get any evolution model my next choice is a scooby.
I've got the cost of the car sorted but I really need some info on general running costs. I know about the recommended service treatment but i would like to know what the current scooby owners roughly spend a year on maintenance (mot, tyres etc). Lowest quote ive got for the inusrance is £1300 fully comp, 26 6 points no convections, so if any of you know of anyone who can beat this but still provide a generally good level of service then let me know.
Also if theres any terzo owners out there do you have difficulties with getting any parts as its limited edition??
Really appreciate anyones advice, i know these things have probably been asked a million times before but ill get the sack if i spend anymore time on the internet at work, and the local scooby delaer is a complete **** (obviuosly doesn't appreciate the benefits of t-shirts and combat trousers).
Fight the power!

Have you tried www.elephant.co.uk. You won't get a quote tonight, but try tomorrow and you can do an online quote!

If you do go with Tesco, don't send ANY original document such as cat 1 alarm certs, tracker certs etc. Only photocopies.
They are only going to lose them!
Everyone I know including myself has had their documents lost by Tesco. They were the cheapest quote I had though.

Don't want to put you off, but I'd have a look at the above. I thought I'd play safe and go for a uk car with FSSH and a full AA report prior to buying![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Good luck

Tesco was the cheapest for us (24 yr old female, 2 yrs ncb, one no-fault accident in 2000 and 25 yr old husband with one claim last year and a few mods!
) by a long way, also excellent service when we made a claim and when I ring up saying "if I added "X" how much would it add to the insurance?" ..they're very tolerant! ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
As for petrol, we spend about a tank full a week £34ish for just over 200 miles, using Optimax. Service's we go to TSL or the next one prob. at Scoobysport who are better value and use better fluids etc. than the dealers
Tyres lasting well, prob. about 15000 - 20000 miles on them, no track day's but "spirited" driving along country lanes - £~120 each for SO3's 17".
The killers the "little" bits you get...i.e. we're going to TSL so we might as well get the downpipe and geometry done![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
So prob. wouldn't be as bad if you had self control ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
....forgive me for not adding them up for the year, I think that would be toooo depressing

I generally expect to replace front tyres after approx 12000 miles (bearing in mind I run Yokohamas which are a very soft compound) at approx 100 quid each. rears last quite a lot longer. petrol averages about 20 - 22 miles per gallon in normal driving, much more on long runs. servicing by main dealer is twice a year. one small service (approx 120 quid) and one big (approx 500 quid). front disks last about 30k miles - very expensive if you use subaru parts (from memory its about 400 quid for disks and pads fitted). havent had any problems in 4 years so thats about it.
dont know too much about the terzo but I am pretty sure it is just a uk special edition so has exactly the same components as the normal uk car (apart from trim), so shouldnt be any problems there.
the costs above are from 4 years of ownership. am now on second scooby. bear in mind though that both of my cars have been low mileage. a Terzo is likely to have quite a few miles under its belt by now so things may start to need replacement. unless you are a pretty competent mechanic it would definitely be wise to get a thorough inspection done. could save you a fortune as parts for these cars are not cheap.
