I am Taking this car out on Sat for an hour.

My Car is delivered and waiting at Palmers for a 1st march pickup , and will have the PPP fitted

Hello there, I have just ordered my STi8 with PPP today, not getting it until end of March (have gone for Black which is hard to get hold of at the moment)

I ordered it from Crossroads - just outside Stratford in a little place called Shipston on Stour - who have several PPP'd STi8's in and on order. They have a comprehensive range of upgrades / modification available.

I test drove an STi8 with 320 bhp (remapped PPP) which was truly awesome, needless to say mine will push out the same!!!

I can't wait...........

if You have been charged over 2k for it then you have been charged the wrong price, it is £1995 inc VAT

Go back to your dealers and sort it out

The PPP is £1995 inc VAT, fitting and all parts. Any other price quoted by a dealer is WRONG [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]

I've read of people being charged anywhere between £2003 and £2300, but the fact remains that these dealers are at best inept, or at worst dishonest.

Personally, I find it quite alarming how many people are being incorrectly charged for this. FFS guys, get down to the dealers and get your money back!

I'm a bit p****d now because I have been told I have to wait up to 17 weeks for the PPP on my STi8, car due on 1st March, or alternatively go to Prodrive direct and leave the car with them for 3 days while they fit it there!

Any advice guys????

I've had my STi8 for 2 weeks now, have been assured by the dealer that fitment of the PPP (which I ordered when I bought the car) will be done on the first service. I paid £1995 inc vat.

The car feels significantly quicker than my old MY99 turbo even though 99% of the time I am driving it below 4000rpm (still only got 500 miles on the clock). Having never driven a PPP'd STi it makes me wonder just how much faster the car is going to be.

Bell Direct want to load my premium 50% for PPP on our new STI8 . Renewal in March so think I'll be moving companies and getting PPP after that.

I asked my insurance company how much with the PPP and they said same price. I was amazed so they phoned the underwriters and came back saying that it was the same price, and it id not even need a tracker!!!

£690 Protected No-claims from Privelege, I am 30. and car is garaged.

I've just approached Privilege for a quote on PPP on an STi8 and the PPP added £250 to the quote of £1400....thats with clean licence, full no claims, although I do have high mileage, high risk job and no garage against me.

Why is there is discrepency about the cost the PPP though ?...surely there should be a standard charge as the components are listed and common to all, and it is recognised by Subaru

We charge £100.00 per year on average for PPP to STI 7 or 8 via the scheme...cars have to be garaged or if in a decent (insurance rated) postcode we will accept either the addition of a Dipol Barrierlock System (circa £250.00 fitted) or a Rhino Security Pillar (circa £250.00).

Believe it or not most of the STI7's are insured with us and certainly a fair few STI8's are already with us

Was recently charged £2165 at CVC in cardiff for PPP on STi7. When i questioned it against the £1995 figure i was told that they had Email confimation from prodrive that they could charge more than this for additional labour. I also phoned prodrive who said that individual dealers can charge above £1995. Can anyone suggest a next course of action. Contact mike wood at prodrive maybe ?

John your correct, privelige want a tracker,and garaged. My hubs 33 and im 28 with full n claims protected no points and they wanted £1236 for both of us. Not PPP. Which is nearl double what im paying now for my 98. All the new age scoobs have gone up in insurance groups if a sti`s group 20 is a wrx 18/19.

How to calculate insurance premiums (the Privilege way):

Age, experience, points, NCD's, garaged, alarmed, Trackered etc - ALL A LOAD OF B*LL*CKS!!!!

Look at the clock and add the little hand time to the big hand time (ie 09.30 am becomes £930). Then multiple by the large hand (£930 x 9 = £8370). Then divide by the small hand (£8370/30 = £279). Then multiple by the lenght of time (in minutes) it took the operator to find the correct model on the computer.

I currently drive a fairly heavily modified Terzo and pay roughly £800 a year with Privilege.
When I started thinking about a MY03-STi I phoned them up for a quote - only £30 more a year.
After ordering the car I thought I'd double check - shock, horror £1200. After pointing out my previous quote the girl goes away, comes back and says she made a mistake - in fact it will now be £30 a year LESS than my Terzo (result I thought).
Then started toying with the idea of a PPP - £500 a year more for the insurance. I'm sure if I ring enough times someone there will eventually say it is cheaper to have a PPP than a standard car!!!!

Anyone had similar experiences?

I've got an STi8 + PPP on order for March 1st and I've not had any indication from the dealer that the PPP won't be available at that time.

I'll be paying a little over £800 to elephant.co.uk to insure it with the PPP. Seemed like a reasonable premium. No idea what they would be like in the event of a claim though as I think they use their own approved repairers, not dealerships. They were by far the cheapest when it came to insuring my modded Elise 111S and my Leon Cupra.

hi,insured with bell direct sti7 prodrive ppp.extra premium not too bad,until i was informed that they would not replace ppp.they would only replace oe parts factory spec.i give up!!!

Just for your reference, the labour costs involved in fitting the PPP are included in the cost of £1995.00 (inc VAT).

If the dealer has problems fitting the parts (i.e. a bolt snaps/cross threads etc) or they have to fit additional parts (i.e. downpipe gasket etc) then they have authorisation to charge the extra at the normal hourly rate/parts cost.

Who do they charge this to, Subaru or the customer?

The downpipe gasket will need changing and if they strip a turbo stud, on a new or nearly new car, its surely not the customer's fault.
