Has anyone any experience with snow chains? Intend to take my 51 wrx to the alps in march and will need them for the run up to altitude. My main question is can you get away with one set on the front or do you have to fit two?
Have asked Subaru and they will not comment on the fitment of snowchains to their cars!?

So far I've always got away with it but I know you're liable for
a fine if you don't have them if stopped. Which resort ?
You could always do a search on the Swiss/French Subaru sites (.ch for Swiss) and locate a local'ish Subaru dealer that you can call/fax in advance and collect before going to the resort itself?
A bit barmy maybe but they should be able to supply you the right ones at a fair (ie non-UK) price for your Subaru.
Other option is to hire from Snowchains or Roofbox (Can't remember the web addresses). They were helpful with advice when I had my A4 Quattro on 17" wheels but Audi were hopeless - "Have you thought about fitting smaller steel wheels and snow tyres sir..."
