Blowdog...
let me guess....is it the full scoobysport system ?
Did you get the centre section without a resonator box...do you find yours much louder ? (especially over 4k Revs)

Hey Ian,
Yeah, full scoobysport exhaust![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)
It is basicaly a hollow pipe
From the inside, it doesnt sound any louder, however from the outside, it is much more rumblier. At 4k revs as you say, I get this glorious rasp/growl/roar (delete as applicable) and I keep hitting 4k revs in all the low gears just to hear it. Not good for fuel consumption, but it sounds really awesome.

Hey Cem,
glad its not just me. I too went for the hollow pipe without resonator box. It a little more boomy from within the car but over 4K....yeehaa!!! I love staying in 3rd on a fantastic section of road near my house (deep corners and walls on either side)...it sounds fantastic !
My Neighbours are $hit scared of our scooby...they (along with the rest of our estate) know when I am returning home from work (before I reach derby
)
Money well spent.
I had to drive down to cambridge on friday (visiting Microsoft) and found that MPG seemed better...I got about 270 miles to the tank at a steady 75/80 MPH on the M-Way...that is quite good.
I can't wait to see how this is effected at donno. My last scooby managed 8 to the gal with downpipe and backbox round the track. My2000 car seems much better on fuel for some reason.
I hope it passes the noise sensors without trouble...I really can't be arsed with taking it off![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif)

Hey Ian,
LOL...I know exactly what you mean. My wife has the dinner ready for me before I get in through the door because she says she hears me coming up the road. My dump-valve kinda gives it away too
lol
With regards to you not passing the sound tests, you will have no problems. Last year, there were some LOUD Impreza's, even louder than ours!
There was an RB5 that sounded like thunder each time it drove past!
I completely agree with you on the low and close walls, whenever i see a low bridge or a tunnel or close walls, i make sure i will be full throttle at about 4k revs.![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)
My god, what is happening to me?![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)

You still got the dump?
& has the missus got the hump?
Can't have as she has the dinner ready for you![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)
How did you do it? Are there lessons to be learnt here?
See you on Sunday

Lol James,
Its the art of tiptoeing on the throttle when she is in the car![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)
For those that are interested, with the current car set up as it is, I am getting flame outs of about 2 foot long! I was informed about this when I drove past a friend last night, he told me my exhaust was on fire.
I got him to drive it up and down an industrial estate and sure enough, I am getting huge flame outs.
LOL
No wonder I am getting about 180 miles to the tank.
Was very funny indeed,
See you at donnington![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif)

I've got the full SS exhaust on my STi 5 too. Has yours got the modified centre section or is it a totally straight through pipe. I don't think I get any flames out of mine
and that is kinda my life's ambition (that and to photocopy me own @rse)

Cem, what difference (noise/response) do you have with the downpipe fitted. I only have the Scoobysport backbox on and the sound is prolly about as loud as the missis will put up with. (women eh?)

I'd say with the downpipe, volume is *fractionally* increased. Unless your misses is actually listening to the exhaust, she wont notice much difference. Its really the note that changes. It becomes a little more depper and rumblier. It is much more noticeable when the exhaust is hot.
Response goes without saying, you get rid of a cat so low end is mucho improved upon.
I would say dont look on it as a power mod, but more of an aural mod.

Hmm..
I need to patent that!
Exploding white van man would be a welcome addition to the cacophony of noises.
"Rooooaaaarr...PSSSHHHT.....POP POP...KABOOOOOMM!!"
lol..
I need an induction kit and then im laughing.

Cem,
about your flames...
what blow-off valve are you running...is it a baily piston unit or the BLITZ/HKS Sequential one ?
I used to have a baily type BOV on my '97 spec turbo. I too used to get flames with just the downpipe and backbox...it very nearly cooked my middle cat.
I think there is an issue with vent-to-atmos valves due to the air sensor not getting a reading due to the excess boost leaving the system. I used to find my car ran very rich and created about 5 times more carbon soot than normal.
I miss my flames...but my woman is happy to be rid of the pissht noise (I was going to fit it onto her Punto Turbo just to drive her mad...but I'm not that cruel
)
don't set anything on fire![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

Hi All,
This theme is also running under the GT4 list.
All those without the CAT(s) and Bailey atmo dump valve also get the flames.
Mine started after I removed the CAT from my downpipe. Another started after he fitted his Bailey dump valve (but had already removed his CATs).
Does sound like over fuelling, just the CATs stopped the fuel making it out to the exhaust tip ?
I can get 2 foot flames on request, although I am trying to find a way to stop it happening. I'm sure it is simply a case of going for a re-circ. dump valve.
Good fun though.
Cheers

![Question](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a 22B with SS Downpipe and SS Backbox.
I have removed centre cat but centre resonator is still there.
If I remove centre resonator is there any performance advantage?
If my wife does not like the noise, tough, I like driving on my own anyway.
Flamesm yes please.

Hey,
My dump valve is non recirculatory, hence the excess fuel i am burning as Ian so rightly described. I dread to think what my MPG will be like at donnington, I expect to spend £200 on fuel on that day alone.
