I once installed a 'coffin' like home made bass box in my MK1 Astra. It had 2 component speakers in as well as the sub....
I drilled holes through my wheel arches to secure it
It was truely the most pointless, crap thing I have ever done, let alone to a car !
The sound was on a par with a blown TV......

Unhappy

Had a cylinder head skimmed, ported, and polished for a 309GTI in the early 90s.Nothing wrong with the car to start with, but I had it in my head that it would fly if I had this mod done.

The mod was quite expensive so I took the head off myself,on replacing the head I left off a spacer from one of the cylinder head bolts, and when I tightened it up it went straight through the back of the engine block.

OOps......engine out,and to the allyweld man,what a nightmare.

Fuzz

The sticker said "Issac hunt.net"
What does it sound like when you say it? Sounds like one of those gags that you get a receptionist to call out over the tannoy

I did realise the implication.
That's one of the reasons I stopped and enquired about the shirts, the novelty rapidly wore off when confronted with the sticker on the number plate though !!

My first car was a red Fiesta 950 popular!

I bought a set of BLUE 13" Weller 8 spoke wheels for £20 off a mate of a mate Thought it looked the muts nuts, only problem was that each tyre was a different make, width and profile!

At the same time I also bought a sticker of Fido Dido with his finger in his ears. It took up the whole of the back window and I could hardly see out of the rear view mirror lol The worst thing was that I was in such a rush to stick it on that it was lobsided and not centered LMAO

I can't believe I thought I was cool cruising about in it!

Volvo 340GLE
Sick Green with sick green interior.
Blue screw on tailpipe extension.
Home tinted windows
Fake five spoke type hub caps
£1500.... yes £1500 of stereo equipment installed very badly by me and my mates!
Sorry everyone!

Whats the most distinctive (completely useless) mod you have ever done to a car, and at the time thought it was the mutts nutts?

I'm talking back box "extensions, Blue sidelights etc" and not forgetting the stickers that max power gave away for free.....they took over the planet!

My personla one was on my pug 205 which i thought i could stick a cherry bomb (i know) exhaust on with jst a bit of exhaust paste and nothing else? Yes NOTHING else, i removed the standard back box, they had a trumpet kinda join, took said cherry bomb back box, which incidentally was 6 inches too short, and stuck it in the hole. Pasted some gunk on it and let it harden. Grinned at how loud it was and drove to work the next day.

On the motorway at about 50mph i changed down coming up to a round about, into third and accelerated, BANG, splutter.....etc.

Looked in my rear view mirror to see a blue cavalier swerving to avoid my incoming back box that was destined for his wind screen!

Embarrased? Yes. Regretful, yes! Scared ****less of the tank of a guy in the cavalier? a 205 has never moved so quick!

D.

Went to Weston wheels last year and saw a stand selling t-shirts and various other stickers. I was given a sticker free..
I got home, stuck it on the bottom of the number plate..stood back..looked at it...and then ripped it off and threw it away.

The sticker said "Issac hunt.net"
I thought it looked cool for about 5 nano seconds

Andy

edit: grammar
