98% MOTORWAY DRIVING AND YES THE TURBO DOES WORK BUT DROVE MOST OF THE WAY AT JUST BELOW TURBO KICK IN AT 2900RPM AND A VERY LIGHT FOOT,WHEN I DRIVE ON NORMAL A OR B ROADS FUEL CONSUMPTION IS BELOW 200MILES TO A TANK FULL.

I think 300 mls MAX from a tank and that in itself is a miracle. Were you putting it in neutral to coast down hills or just forget to zero the milometer properly?? A few too many pints in the pub lunch I reckon otherwise get on the phone to Norris McWorter

Well, explain this:-
26mpg if I have Optimax or ESSO super in the tank AND have a very smooth drive with cool power delivery and very little 3000RPM hesitation
AND:-
20mpg on NUL and runs like a bag of nails, sounds rough, 3000RPM hesitation very noticable
Surely it shouldn't be THAT obvious - but it is with me!!

when the lovely petrol crisis was on I drove my scoob like it was a sunday school transport angel and I got 385 to the tank, no turbo, it is a turbo, and no silly business, it was the most boring week of my life but it is true, if you are able to restrain yourself from using the power of your car give it a crack and see if you can beat it.........

I have got 340 miles from a tank and that was 60-70 on motorway/dual carriageway with no sudden acceleration.
Even then the light came on and cost me £42 to fill up. Obviously it wasnt Optimax that Powerman was using. Or if it was he gets it significantly cheaper than the 79.9p a litre I pay for it.
Usually hooning around and short trips see 200 or less from a tank but I bought the car knowing it would drink fuel faster than bestie used to drink pints.
Simon.

Got 384 miles from one tank on a motorway jaunt from Watford to Harrogate and back in a day, average speed around 75-80 mph in an 02 bug-eye WRX, took 49.84 litres to fill up = 35 mpg
How shocked was I ???
Never done it before, or since. Usually around 230 - 250 per tank

Just got back from a skiing trip - 4 up, full load of gear etc. Hammered (judiciously) at times (well OK, quite a bit), stop and go at others (), with very little plain old cruising and was ssssshocked to fill up and find a 10km/litre performance That's about 28mpg I believe

Haven't you got it yet? Powerman's economy comes from having his ignition and fuelling settings as the best possible as a freak by-product of his ECU being affected by the electrical field radiating from his computer's "Caps Lock On" light.
