don't run it on anything other than super or optimax.

of course it is guzzling fuel thats what they do!

what returns are you getting?

WRX's are mapped for 100 RON fuel, i believe many of the import drivers round these parts use octane booster as well as 97 ron.

It definatley gives less repair bills.
If the engine is mapped to run on 100 ron then running it on 95 supermarket special will not help the internal bits.

never been too sure about octane boosters. i personally think that super is fine.

you should not get less than about 18, although i have had mine to 16 .

just keep filling her up fella - poor thing i mean if you were thirsty you would want a drink eh?

Dont forget that you only have a 50ltr fuel tank so it seems you go though alot of fuel... newer models have a 60ltr tank

Tony

PS, never run your car on 95 ron, engines are expensive

yeh i might try the octane boost i agree if the engine is set to fire on a certain level of fuel it can't be right running it on lower. looks like this stuff will run on the 95 stuff as well

If your fuel consumption is excessively high, then it is a sign of a failing lambda (exhaust) sensor.

However, they do use a LOT of fuel. Keep feeding it and enjoying

I know a couple of people with UK scoobs have said that they do better using 97ron over 95ron in terms of MPG - enough to offset the cost increase.

indeed, keep feeding! lol@dnb!

you alright son?

work out the fuel consumption properly, that way you will know if it is the usual excessive amount! if even more savage, start the trouble shooting!

Yup, i'll agree with that. Out of a full tank i gain about £1.70 when using super. (2-3 mpg gain)

8-10mpg? There's something seriously wrong somewhere, then. I get 27mpg - admittedly a UK spec turbo (with PPP), but 8mpg is a track day figure.

Chipped 95 WRX, HKS Induction Kit, Afterburner Exhaust, Optimax and Millers Octane Booster.

£40 worth of petrol will get me just over 200 miles.
Thats about 20 mpg.

Most of my driving is urban, which is why im not too fussed at 20ish mpg. If I did a lot of motorway driving I'd prob get around 23- 25 mpg.
At the end of the day Who buys a scoob thinking about the MPG?

MY97 - Full decat - run on 95ron + NF booster. Mostly short urban journeys (changed jobs!) I get around 210-220 miles per 50 litres of fuel (never let it get really empty, hence I've always got at least 10 litres left). If I go on purely motorway journeys I can almost reach the fabled 300 miles on a tank

I agree, 90 miles on a tankful is shocking no matter how big the tank I did around that figure when I took my MY00 to a track day at Bedford Get the mixture checked out mate, and I know it sounds daft, but check under the car and make sure there aren't any visible signs of fluid on the ground.

Cheers Phill C

PS In my old MY00 I could get 32 MPG with the air con. on maybe driving like Miss Daisy

similar spec to krade, 95 WRX 260 ps model, full decat and desilenced exhaust, running on 95 octane with boost additive (all I can get round here).

Regularly run down to empty, and put in fifty litres (fifty three on one occassion - dodgy garage). Never does more than 225-230 miles, so averages about 25mpg. Did manage to get it down to 10 mpg on one run just after I bought it!

PS Runnind down to empty on tight country roads, never had any fuel surge problems - do scoobs have a baffled tank?

Ive got an MY93 wrx, pretty much a standard car, with a VTA dump valve ..

I get on average 25mpg, or roughly 210miles / £31 .... i use a mix of optimax and NUL depends where i am.

Driving like a really old person, ive just had 260miles, that was with NUL and not going over 60mph..in the region of 30mpg

Equally foot to the carpet driving, and ive halved them values...

Hope this helps

Frank

96 wrx,
full decat, vta dumpvalve, panel filter.
240 miles to 44 litres
I've never had fuel surge, even with the needle pointing at the middle bar of the E (couldn't find a garage with SUL)

23.5 mpg mixed driving (mostly nice) when I filled up this morning.

27-30 on motorway cruise

lightly modded UK turbo (Dawes decat blitz etc)

I get 220 miles from £40ish of Optimax, on mostly commuting driving, thrashing it when I can.

Just remeberd that I should be getting about 230 to a tank as I only ever seem to put in £35-38 each fill up. Having no Low fuel warning tends to make me a bit paranoid of running out

The joys of owning a Bug-eye !!

I get 290 miles from almost a full tank (approx £39 Optimax)on runs using the M'way and duel carriageways...(Normally drops to 240 around town). I wouldn't say I drove that slowly either

You see..beauty is in the eye of the beholder

98MY WRX type R

Always Optimax gets about 200 miles for £38 on M/way about 140ish playing mixed urban, never let it drop too far below the last quarter to avoid **** clogging filters and running out.

Does this car have a low fuel warning?
