Question

Got rid of my 2.0 turbo end of last year and missing it no end! Just seen an N reg Sport for sale in a local garage for £2,595. Tempted but not sure whether to get it or wait till my boyfriends mate puts his Astra GSI up for sale later in the year. What are your thoughts on the matter?!

How is your boyfriend's mate selling his car going to sway things?

The Astra is a nice car! Really looked after it and he's done a few bits and bobs to it (stuff that I would have done if I had bought a standard one!) so it'll save me the bother!

If I wait and get the Astra, I know I'll like it but i'm not sure about getting a Sport now. Will I be disappointed?!

Had a loan Scoob 2.0 GX last week while mine was in for a service and it was slower than slow. I don't give a rats about how it handled, it just didn't go.
The astra might not handle, but will be a much more amusing ride.

Well if youve had a turbo i think you will be dissapointed with a sport IMHO.

astra not sure about, had no deaings with them, id rather have a nice 16v golf.

Yep, agree with the above - sport will feel slow, especially with the 4wd drivetrain sapping power

I drove one last night and I was quite impressed I didn't thrash it or expect too much from it though but I guess it depends on how hard you drive.

I've had a sport for the last year and it's a great car, especially after having the TSL geometery mod.....but, yes, they are a bit slow. I have thrash the bollox of mine constantly to get anywhere fast.

Depends on your priorities - mine was great handling over speed, and on the backroads it's great fun, but it just feels underpowered all the time, although a chip/zorst has helped a little.
