Question

i'm thinking of planning a trip to bruntingthorpe or enstone or somewhere similar to try to measure straight-line top speeds for me & a few mates. anyone know of any planned meets coming up at a track where you can measure top speeds?

tia.

I think that TrackFun have one imminent at Bruntingthorpe ?

It's a shame that you can't tackle this one from a rolling rather than a standing start - done it twice in previous cars and both still had more to come when I had to back off at the MUST brake point. 138 at an indicated 145 , but the 996 Turbo's were hitting 178/180!

trackdays to bruntingthorpe wont open the full 2mile straight and on the back straight they put a "chircane" to slow you down (well they did when I went ).

Also I wouldn't want to try to push to top speed as over 140mph is rumoured to be the cause of some engine failures (air delaminates from bonnet and no air gets into intercooler)

My friend in oxford has an elise too Have you seen the purple one with a wing on the back? I did bruntingthorpe a few years ago in astraboys cossie and the straight was just about long enough to see a genuine 145+ mph safely but I wouldn't want brake failure at that speed
