Hi guys and gals i will have a scooby in the household next week. This is to be the wife's car.
It an impreza 2000 turbo on a t plate 99 and its the 5 door version.
I have ordered a new panel filter and a magnex exhaust system for it.Could any of you knowledgeable people advise me on what the cars are like and any quirks they may have.
I myself drive an evo 5 so please don't shoot me down in flames i like all sorts of cars. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just remind her not to kill it until it warms up , and try not to knock the parking light on ,on top of the steering column (flat battery time ).ENJOY !

Welcome.
I drive a 99T plate wagon. I've not found much wrong with mine in the last year and 5 months of ownership. My list is below. Only 'a)' applies to the wagon, all the rest could happen on the 4 or 5 door...
a) Knocking sound from the rear of the car every now and again. It's a design fault with the boot catch on the hatchback so I've been told.
b) Clutch judder when cold. Happens to a lot of Scoobs.
c) Turbo hesitation when cold. Yet again quite common I think.
d) Bodywork made of tin. I've dented my wings by leaning too hard on them when polishing the bonet. Annoying.
e) Standard brakes can feel a bit soft, but they do the job.
f) Peashooter exhaust looks cr*p. I'm glad you've got another on order.
From what I've read, the Impreza does suffer from thin earthing cables ... it keeps the weight down don't you know
Just get some decent earthing cables and attach a few more. For a proper job get a battery terminal distribution block and then take the extra cables off to a suitable earthing point
Enjoy the power and practicality of the 5 door
