Questions and answers
- Is it the 2WD or the 4WD version ? (they did both for a year)
- It is a flat four as far as I know (drove one last month)
- Handles very well to be honest, as light, stiff'ish chassis
and good steering
- Won't all the mods push the insurance up too much ?
If not and you don't mind the lack of grunt (its about 88bhp I think) then it could be a low-price street-cred lifter !

I GOT A 1.8 WRX LOOK-A-LIKE MATE!
I'D GET 1 IF I WERE YOU THEN TRADE IT IN FOR A TURBO WHEN THE INSURANCE COMES DOWN!
JUST TURNED 20 WITH NO NCB SO I'M IN A SIMILAR POSITION!
HOW MUCH IS IT GOING FOR?
REG? MILAGE?

I'm 20 with a turbo. Comes down to how much money you want to waste, and on what. I waste mine on insurance and can't afford mods, whereas yours will go on mods.
If you're going to spend a whack on mods you may as well get at least a 2.0 sport.
The turbo brings waaaaaay more grins and i reckon its just about worth it. If you can scrape the cost DO IT

a ha i have the very car!!!!!!!
i have an L reg impreza 1.6 sport. i'm just 21, i have had the car a year i know what your going through.
mine looks like a wrx only difference - rear drums! just had brake conversion done on the front to wrx brakes so i'm half way there.
performance....average. it's a heavy car designed for a turbo engine.Or at least a 2ltr. i think thats why subaru stopped making them lol
you can get them in 2wd or 4wd, if you want more speed get a 2wd mine is 4wd and the transmission holds the car back. but i do have the handling.
performance... keep up with a fezzy xr2i or somthing similar - which is good for it's size/small engine capabilities
i know everyone will laugh at this but i dont care, i am now looking for a wrx, but it's hard when your young and doing things by the book.
at least i'm not driving a corsa/saxo/fiesta.
it's up to you really, i drive quite a distance to work so i like a spacious reliable safe car. that is also good round corners. It is a softer feeling car than a turbo but that is because it is completly different underneath i.e suspension etc.
a bit slow off the start...but once it has momentum it's ok.
let the laughing comence

oh yeah i forgot.
it is a flat 4 looks a bit different though. if someone can put a pic of a sport engine up it looks like that.
and the uk model is around 88 bhp
mine is apparently more near 100bhp for some reason ( jap model )
hope this helps
