I've got a MY95 1.6GL wagon. My first car so I don't think I've done bad, lots of fun saying I'm 17 (well I was when I got it) and have an Impreza
Not done anything to speak of to it yet, just got it in decent condition and easy to live with, with a respray, decent tyres, alarm. Planning on Sport-lookalikeing it, IGT filter, Ecotek (does that work on N/As??), s/s exhaust, turbo brakes, wheels, etc. All as and when the funds allow.
M0NEY, how did you make a P1 'zorst fit? I thought turbo exhausts have different fittings. Could do with knowing as my centre cat is on its way out.
Looks a bit strange cos it was wet, but you get the idea.
Cheers,
Ben

hi all.
regarding back box, my mate does custom exhausts as a hobby so i let him do one on the scooby. He gets the back boxes from aston martin for next to nothing, this is due to customers comming in and asking for sport exhausts instead of standard. Standard aston ones are stainless!!!! they are thrown away. He knows the people who work there so they basically give him them.
so quick removal of old back box then a bit of alignment work and welding. Dont know where the evo tailpipe comes from he just had it lying around. Says ralliart down the side !!!!!!!!!!
cost £60 and makes great flat four noise.
just picked up two more bargains at the weekend !!!
from car transplants nr crewe.
taken from a stripped and rolled RA
lightweight bonnet without vents with a few scratches n dents nothing a body shop cant fix - £30
carbon sti strut brace - £70
Great stuff!!!!!
but had trouble with the car on wednesday night. had a coolent pipe fracture. this pipe runs along top of rocker cover under air con ( if you have it ) on right hand side of engine ( if you were stood looking from the front )
has a smaller piece running of this main line that supplies the throttle body with coolant.
this small pipe fractured due to bad design the whole pipe is bolted to the block and this causes alot of vibration. causing fracture. Subaru told me this was a weakness on 1.6's and 1.8s
part cost £26 from subaru which is ok but there is alot of work involved in changing it. ( removal of air con compressor etc ) i have not yet had this part changed. instead have silver soldered the fracture which is as good as. but i just thought i'd let you all know.
cheers
Dale

An update on mine, got some MY99/00 Sport wheels through Scoobynet at the weekend, very pleased with how they look against my silver car.
What wheels are they Stevey? Look good. Did they do MY97-00 1.6s in NI then? I know they did in Euro-land but not UK, or is yours and import?
Wheels and spoiler looking good Jerseygirl. Bit of a dull question, but did you use the original wheel nuts? Just wondering as the nuts that were on my steelies look smaller in outside diameter than the marks left by the previous owners' wheels nuts. Expect they're doing the job though, at least I hope they'll continue to do so
Cheers,
Ben

I've got a silver '93 1.6i gl saloon.
- 15" Fox Racing 5 spoke alloys,
- a big black rear spoiler that one day I will eventually get painted silver,
- removed the "panels" from the front bumper (the one's beneath the indicators and the black strip) and fitted small oval shaped blue lensed spotlight's,
- Halfords "turn down" tail pipe cover.
It may be a '93 car but it only has 87,000 miles on the clock with a full scooby service history, so the milage is genuine.

I thought nobody else had a non-turbo car on this forum...!
Mine is a '93 1.8 GL. It has 16" gold STI alloys, which I bought last week from a breaker. Makes a hell of a difference!
Nothing else so far, but I am looking to get a louder exhaust. Anyone know if we can get a proper noise out of the non-turbos? What is the best exhaust for the job?
Also, does anyone know if the 'turbo' front grille will fit on a '93 GL? Mine looks a bit duff at the moment, and I could maybe change it....

My MY02 WRX was in for its 20k service today (eek, 6 months old!) and drove a TS down to London and was very impressed, naturally the right pedal doesn't do much but the ride was ok and handled the motorway well and the engine was nice and thrummy. Got a bit scared when I took a roundabout as I'd usualy do though!
