PPP insurance increase
#1
Have been quoted an extra £270 on top of my £1200 policy with Tesco's.
They basically had to list the PPP as 2 seperate mods - 1 for engine chip mods and 1 for exhaust replacement. They have it down as a category 'b' upgrade (between 11 and 20% power increase)
Reasonable or have they mis-calculated what the PPP is/improves?

Well, I explained it was a dealer fitted option, but the person on the other end of the phone, said
'oh yes, we know about the PPP, but we have to split it into seperate engine chip and exhaust change on our system.'
Still waiting for my 30th birthday (August) when I can get quote from the likes of Liverpool Victoria etc.

I just bought a STiPPP and I got quotes from tesco (and directline - same underwriters), axa, flux and finally norwich union via subaru insurance.
late 30s, cambridgeshire, driveway, 1 fault claim, no convictions, 7yrs NCD, 500xs.
axa (current insurer) 1600
tesco & direct line 1400
NU via subaru 1000
i tried a few other places who mostly were 1100 for standard Sti and then wanted 1400-1600 for PPP addition. NU only wanted 10% loading.
here is full breakdown of my policy with NU if it helps anyone ...

"dealer fitted standard tuning package"
I told Tesco pretty much that. Said it was fitted only by official dealers and didn't affect the warranty. They were happy.
So, you've decided not to have another Seat? Welcome and good luck flogging your number plate.
Cheers

Silverback,
I would tell them to **** off and give Greelight a call - they have a very open policy on mods and they know exactly what you are talking about. A lot of people assume they can just say:
- exhaust replacement
- power increase of 10% (for classic)
and forget about the revised ducting. I approached Admiral and explained what the PPP was (as above) and they said, 'yeah, no probs, that'll be £137 more please'. A day later, I received a phone call and the person said that it had been referred for further investigation - the result - they wouldn't touch an MY00 + PPP AT ALL! The more senior person on the end of the phone said that you can list all 'the bits' but if it isn't 100% accurate, come claim time, you're up sh*t creek without a paddle.
I'm now with Greenlight who are great.
The whole thing is rather strange considering Admiral DO insure a P1??!! But NOT an MY00 + PPP - somebody please explain that to me!
