Question

Ok.. I Currently have a MY96 scoob (lightly fetled) and was wondering if it would be safe to fit a towbar and use it to pull my westfield?

I (well we ) currently borrow my Grandads Bora TD but I'm sure there will be occasions where this wont be possible. The car is around 550kg's (the westi not the bora ) and dont know what the trailer weighs (aluminium and it has breaks).

If it is ok, should I back the DAWES off a little as I think the extra weight would make it work a little harder?

Im sure there is a law against fitting tow bars to Impreza's but some of the "older" Scoobynet members have fitted them .
As for the Dawes, i cant imagine your going to be using WOT while towing so id say you should be ok.

Provided the trailer and its contents do not exceed the maximum weight in your manual you will be OK. As for backing off the boost, you'll not be going too fast anyway, 60mph tops on the motorway, so while you may be spinning the turbo it won't be getting too silly I would have thought.

Can't a scoob take 1200 kg braked towing weight? (only about 500 kg unbraked)

DON'T quote me on this...

I had a towbar fitted to my Terzo from new almost 5 years ago....to tow a powerboat. Made an excellant tow car. Also having had a look around the paddock at Brands during raceday would suggest that several use their scoobs as towcars.
Picking up my Sti8 with PPP tomorrow....fitted with towbar

Should be fine

Twice I towed my mate home when I had my Calibra Turbo. I had to pay £700 to have the rear diff overhauled cause the bearing fell apart. I towed him home the second time and the bearings fell apart again, I took it back to the garage and got the job redone on the warranty Needles to say, Ive never and will never tow anything again!!!!
