Is it true that there is no petrol warning light when low on fuel?

If so, why the hell not if the gauges are as crap as I'm told.

My MY99 has one. Comes on with about 10 litres left (assuming a full tank will take 60 litres)

 

My last 96 Sport didn't have one either...

 

MY98 and on got the warning light.

 

My current and MY99 foresters had them. The seem to come on with just under 10 litres left.A full fill-up gets me about 52-54 litres in from the light coming on.

 

Always chicken out before mine comes on.

 

MY94 WRX saloon doesn't have one. I use the guestimate method !

 

only the 98 cars and above have them,its stupid I know.I have the 97 car without one and the petrol guage goes right down into the middle of the E before its nearly empty.so as a guide as long as you dont go below that it should be alright, unless yours is different again.

 

P1 has warning light
