Open Pit Lane?
#2
Trackdays are run in two ways :
1) Sessions - the cars are split into groups and after a time period say 20 minutes the groups swap over.
2) Open pit lane - cars can go out and come in any time they like. The will stop cars though if too many are on track.
Open pit lane have the advantage that if you need fuel, food, drink you dont lose track time. If you have a problem you can fix without losing track time (relatively). Also people may not want to thrash a car round a track for a full session and come in and cool it off.
That explain it ?
Why do they run session trackdays, obvious really they can get more cars on track and dont have to limit the number signing in.

I've attended both type sessions and would say that although the open pit lane sessions are more expensive (obviously) they are much better!!
As the other reply has said, you can stay out as long as like and then allow you brakes and engine to cool when you come in!!
Hope this helps, Phill
