Anyone else suffer the same thing?

No, my boss actively encourages me to waste time. He does this by not giving me anything to do hence I spend all day on the web.

BTW, I get paid HUGE amounts to do p1ss all

Paul,

Pots and black kettles?....

My attitude is that my employer pays me a retainer so that I am available just in case my invaluable skills are required . That is, provided I'm not doing anything more important at the time (like posting to the BBS) LOL

A.

P.S. My highly valued skillset apparently doesn't include being able to type or spell properly

Being in tech support means that I *have* to be on the web to research users problems. Thus I can happily spend all day surfing, and get paid for it! though in my defence I do work hard when the need arises.

Another bonus is that as I'm Apple Mac support, and Macs tend to be a little more stable than PC's, support calls are sometimes few and far between, so what's a geek to do except surf and read slashdot

It's an absolute disgrace! This morning, I came in to find out we had some failures on the system, and I couldn't look at the BBS until 10:00 am!!!

Fortunately, I have since made up for it, including several wind ups on the American board

Paul

You too can enjoy the easy life! All you have to do is become an IT contractor and get a job in banking in London. To the outside world it's ultra high pressure 12 hours a day etc etc. The reality is I do a strict 8 hours a day, 3 days a week and pay 20% tax even though my company earns more than the higher rate tax band - hooray!

Damm Ive been found out.
yes I am at college, and yes I too am suposed to be working, (on a Operational Amplifier assignment-Yawn).

If it was not for those pesky kids (kid brother that is!)
Sorry to cast aspersions on all you hard working types.
Now you know that I had best shut up and do some work..... well in a bit anyway.

Changing the subject slightly I just heard on the radio that Altavista and ATL are offering some new internet deals (sounded cheap,£10 a year with unlimited use or some thing like that. are these up and runing yet or is this for the future?

See Ya

I work for my father.

Oh the stress of it

...can't spare a moment for here or the rsowners or my e-mail.

Infact we went to a company today that does grey imports and wants to modify them. They are considering our bosch 4x4 rolling road capable of 402 bhp at the wheels on EACH axle ...oh the stress of it. I must have seen about 8 good subarus and three evo's today and i still got paid

Sometimes its not too bad!

I work for the US government, so I do no work. Being a techie, I work only when called. So most of the time I sit here and surf for the latest news and views.

you know your life is easy/boring when u have basically dried up the ENTIRE net of things of interest. You start sitting here pressing re-fresh to see if anyone has replied to what you have said.

Something to do with having NO PETROL AT ALL and having spent every penny from this weeks work on parts to build a rear disc conversion for my rsturbo .

No money no fun...so it seems.

a girlfriend with a dissertation helps not.
