In my continued goal of getting a STi type R at the end of October i'm just trying to work out the best way for me to sell my current UK scooby at the start of October, maintain ability to travel to work etc & then buy a nice funky type R at the end of October (kuz that's when insuirance runs out & i can get a funky policy which will cover me on imports)
So basically im looking to get maximum funds from current car by selling privately & not having to do part X malarky (read losses ) & having funds to walk in & buy said type R when possible but inbetween i will need a car for getting to work etc (NB not huge milage or nowt but toooooooooo far 2 walk!!! )
So options that spring 2 mind:
a) Lemon time get a piece of poop in hope it doesnt die while im abusing it
b) Rental car? I remember seeing sum relatively sweet deals on renting scoobies (as co car) etc monthly or wotever.
c) kissin sum serious **** & seeing if i can blag lifts to work etc (which wood obviously be cheapest but lose of flexibility so not ideal in any way!)
Any cunning plans or ideas greatfully received
Si (yes i was in boy scouts so like planning ahead )

I have a 2 owner (that's the origional owner & me) RED MK2 Golf GTI for sale, 98,000 miles full VAG SH, sweet as a nut, BBS 16" mint alloys, Mint interior. for £2,200.00. I bought it as a go between my last WRX to current as you are proposing to do.

Cheers peaps
That rental is sounding promising as i dont really wana fork out any even relatively big money for buying & selling another car when i can guarantee an expenditure of £160 or less (presuming i can return it clean)
Any more places &/or suggestions?

The rental sounds the best thing, as the insurance and depricitation risk for a month on buying a cheap car would be a lot more than that. Be careful on the mileage alowance you get from easy car go over the allowed miles and it is a 0.20 - 0.35p per mile do loads of miles every day and it will cost you a fortune.

Not that I know anything about insurance but.. if you sell your car then the insurance policy would be cancelled and you would loose that years no claims bonus. That sound right?
If you transfer the policy to a **** heap (£200 quid escort or something)for that month the policy would then continue. Worth talking to the insurance companies first maybe.

Buy an old banger just to bide you over, use the remaining cover on your insurance so you can earn that year NCD, the old banger should be cheaper to insure than your scoob, you may even get a refund from your insurance company unless it gets swallowed up by admin charges.
After all this you can sell the old banger on for not much of a loss if any.
