Will there be an auto version? My friend wants a fast car but has to have auto, and room to get a wheelchair in.

Any ideas when/if they will be in the UK?

He doesn't need an auto does he?

There are plenty of electric/hydraulic clutch conversions available from sub £1000-£2000 approx to allow him a wider choice of models and indeed cars.

The auto Impreza though is an easier option granted.

I doubt IM will offer an auto WRX, as an auto is available since the very first classic turbo Imprezas, but IM never offered that option.
Maybe u can buy a JDM WRX, which is available with 4-speed tiptronic.

I don't think he wants to mess around importing from japan. Do any of the EU countries have auto?

He does need the auto, unfortunately.

Thumbs up

Andy,

Contact Iain Litchfield @ www.litchfieldimports.co.uk , who may be able to help on either a Euro-sourced or Jap-sourced car.

I'm hoping he can help me with a Skyline R32 GTR...

Squizz.

Sidhead- tell him hand-controls are a pain in the ear lobe with right handed indicators.

Get a Jdm second hand.

Unfortunately he has no choice but to have hand controls - and will require about £7002's worth of modifications to it anyway..

Finally got my password back so i can add my $0.02. I'm the awkward guy in question - currently drive a Pug 306 estate (). I'm not buying a car till I am 21 with 5 years' NCD (8 months away), but I like to start enquiries early .

Like has been said I am awkward in that I need an auto box, and also an estate (or large hatch/coupe). I want something quick before I have to have a boring car, and it looks like the Scooby might be it. Litchfield Imports site looks mint, its been bookmarked in Mozilla and I'll contact them when I start looking to buy, assuming that my experiments in Scoob dealers with getting my wheelchair into one proves successful.

Thanks again

Steev

Awkward... you can say that again

We'll have to go annoy some dealers by testing out their wagons then

Steev,

10k's worth of adaptions!!! How?

If the chairs to go in the boot then it's not a Constables conversion so no big cost there.

Hand Controls £350, maybe a hoist for chair £1500.

Please enlighten me.

Oh and don't forget if you buy brand new with the mods ordered at the same time so you pay only one invoice, you save 17.5% off the total cost of car and conversion.

Andy exaggerated (slightly) - it adds up to about 7k. I'm missing my legs and also my left arm (at the elbow) so the adaption is quite significant. It also has to be custom designed and built around me etc. Hand controls are cheap, you're right - but I also have an electric handbrake button moved over to the dash, a hydraulic system that connects my left arm to the pedals, and then theres all the work that goes in - it all seems to add up. It shouldn't be that expensive but there isn't much demand so the price seems to spiral.

I got a seperate conversion with a firm in Coventry, though it hasn't been incredibly reliable so I may look elsewhere. It is probably down to bad luck more than anything else that it has gone wrong, but it's still not a great situation to be in. I already have plans for requesting a custom built TVR Speed 6 when I am on £200k pa

Anyways, better not get too far ahead of myself - the wheelchair has to fit in the Scoob first (fingers crossed).

Steev,

Don't give up on JD's in Cov, they're bound to sort it one way or another.

If it's a lightweight Quickie chair with quick release wheels then it will fit.
