THINKING OF A SUBARU
#1
I'VE been thinking of buying an impreza for about a year, but apart from the terrible fuel consumption, sky high price of the parts, clutch judder, service prices, why should i buy one, PLEASE SOMEBODY CONVINCE ME --- WHAT IS THE ATTRACTION???????????

I'm not finding the clutch judder (mine doesn't do it...) or the price of parts (I & quite a lot of other people know ways of getting them at sensible prices)
I do most servicing myself - I know it gets done that way...
The fuel and insurance can be a pain, but go drive a good one, and you'll see the attraction...

All round ability, supercar slaying performance for family saloon money, drive one, plenty for sale with the new 2003 model out, if you dont like dont buy.
Sure they are expensive to run but so is any serious performance car and I dont mean a lukewarm hatch .

Just go out and take a test drive... That's all there is to say, really. You either will love it or not be moved. Either way, there's nothing anyone can say to persuade you if that doesn't float your boat.
and if it does, well, you'll be telling us about how great the car is

Had my WRX 94 for just over 3 weeks. Absolutely love it. So it`s thirsty, so it`s pricey to service, so it needs servicing every 2 days, what the hell!!!
If you think you can afford it, get one. If you don`t think you can afford it, get one anyway, you`ll find a way!!!!!

Had my first test-drive a couple of months ago - now I have no choice. Since then I have dreamt every night of driving one again. I have been laughing in my sleep and thought of little else during the day. Ooh baby. I have not been this excited since I was a teenager undoing my first girlfriend's bra-strap. Ahh, the distant memory........ Should be getting a MY03 WRX in a few weeks.
Drive one - if you don't understand after that then you really should buy a 4 year old Mondeo or something similiar. They're good value for money.

when i bought my scoob (now sold but looking for another) i took it out for a test drive and when i got back to the showroom my legs were shaking and i couldnt wait to pick it up. Buy one and you will never want another car.

Best car I've ever owned (and ive had a few). My only regret is not getting one 6 years ago when I first thought about it Still it was well worth the wait.

About 3 yrs ago my neighbour bought a silver MY97 with a pro drive conversion. I took it out for a spin an wanted one since. I pick up my MY 03 WRX on Mon/Tues this week an i'm like a small child waitin for Father Christmas.
Over the years i've been fortunate enough to drive some very fast cars, V6 4motion,older an newer shaped imprezas,BMW 330 sports and even 911s an for the money the WRX ranks up there.
I wouldnt be partin with my hard earned if i wasnt impressed.
(plus my 8yr old daughter an 3yr old twin boys want to go REALLY fast).

I NEVER wanted one. EVER.
I now own an STi 8, its done 500 miles now.
Yesterday I opened her up "a bit" Jag XJSport in front trying to get away. It gave up. The STi never hit the gear shift light
Done 120MPH for the first time in the scoob, reaches that at about 4000 RPM. Its the safest feeling car I have ever driven at high speed.

Just drive one!
I'm on my second and never regretted one moment. Don't be tempted by Jappy imports. Met a bloke whose diff went a week after he bought an imported STi. 12 weeks later it was still off the road waiting for the ship from the land of the rising sun!!
Do it .... go for a test drive NOW..... OK in the morning. You'll know then if you really want one.

Yes, a top car. Stonking performance, 4 wheel drive, great chassis, stopping power, characterful engine, practical, reliable, the list goes on...
The downsides?
Security - not only the car itself, but make damn sure your house is also secure. Otherwise they'll break in your kitchen window in the middle of the night looking for the keys.
Refinement - Not the most refined car for the money, but that's not the point. Choppy ride, mainly when mum and daughter are in the back or when just pottering about at low speed, but it's absolutely sublime over 5/10.
A performance car has performance running costs, the upfront payment is the easy bit!
Still doesn't make you invincible. With power comes responsibility and all that...
Enjoy!
