How much for a MY03 import?

scoobyshop reporting 16300?
this is more reasonable than uk dealer prices!
would there be any problems with warranty? will the service intervals be the same?
looking around private ads for my00 models etc there seems to be much less "UK car" type ads around these days which seems to suggest the stigma of a european car is now much less than in the early days?
any ideas of delivery timescales? has anyone gone this route, would you recommend it or suggest steering clear?
thanks.

Scoobyshop price is out of date, I suspect. Will have a look , but when I worked it out, there was literally nothing in it. Surprising given that I bought my MY00 from Holland.
Service intervals on MY01+ are something of an enigma. UK has 10000 miles or 12 months IIRC. EU is 6 months or x kms (can't remmeber what x is). You need to follow the EU guidelines if you're running an EU car, as they provide the warranty.
Prices second hand don't seem to be greatly affected.
Do the research and make your choice. I didn't regret buying from the EU before, and I don't regret buying my 03 WRX from a UK dealer now

UK dealer, if playing the game, might be tempted to give you good finance and discount too... I got a stonking deal
Dan: it's not up to IM to dictate service intervals for EU-sourced cars, it's up to the country that provides the warranty. That's not IM, hence the confusion.

no finance required, yet they still didn't seem to want to budge on price, guess they can make more on fianance deals.
the same dealer has a my98 (s), 50K for 12000 and seems very unwilling to do anything other than replace 2 worn tyres! the trade in price for an s plate is 7750!!

re service intervals
I noticed that the owner's manual has really stupid servicing intervals - something like 1k, 3k, 9k, 19k, 28k, 38k, 46k etc!
Waiting for service book to confirm what it *should* be - although to my knowledge Benelux have gone for 12months 10K miles for the 03s...
- and as for the pricing, before Christmas it was possible to pick up Euro imports for < 17k (I did ), but most figures available now say exchange rate of 1.59 (which you just won't find!)

quoting a delivery date of june so i guess this applies to most/all dealers.
supply and demand - they are not going to drop the price if there is a waiting list. free mats would probably take some doing
would an import have kmh on the clocks and register in km's or would it have the speedo converted with new mph decals and a electronic converter to convert the gearbox output into mph so that the gauges read correctly?

i must just have been lucky then? Along with the others on here who managed to get a discount? That was before there was a waiting list building up, admittedly...
Plus I wanted the wagon, and the loading for a wagon in the EU is more than the 500 quid over here, which makes the price difference even less.

MY01+ service intervals are exactly the same on EU cars as they are on UK cars. IM have confirmed this.
If you've got an EU supplied car then you MUST follow the Scehdule laid down in the service record book, which for my October 2001 WRX, full UK spec, supplied by Motorpoint of Derby, originally from Utrecht Subaru, has 6 month / 12,500 km service intervals.
If you DONT follow that and have it fully stamped up as per the book then any warranty you've got / purchased will be void.
The UK cars schedule was changed to 1 year / 10,000 miles in Jun or July 2001, but the fax from IM to the dealers (a copy of which I have here) states THIS IS FOR UK SUPPLIED CARS ONLY.
I was also informed that from mid 2001 SOME EU sourced cars came with a three year warranty UNLESS SPECIFICALLY STATED OTHERWISE - mine specifically states 1 year.
DAN - If you have documentary proof of IM saying that 2001 EU sourced WRX cars have 1 year service intervals I would like to see it and have a copy please, asap!
Mr Devey said Subaru UK will NOT get involved in warrnaty stuff for EU cars, all they will do if you have a claim is contact the EU dealer, get permission from them to get it repaired, then tell your local dealer they have permission to fix it under the EU warranty - they are only intermediaries and will not help you further than that.
I know all this because there is a Subaru dealership in Southampton who service EU sourced cars following the UK schedule, and are rendering peoples warranties void. As "proof" of the schedule that should be followed they produced the fax I have, with the huge bold capital letters on the bottom underlined, saying UK cars only..
