T-cut or if a bit deeper try rubbing compound but take it easy and only do a little at a time and don't rub too hard ! If it's a metallic you might ruin the laquer though

Don't use T-Cut on a recent Impreza - a few people have done this in the past with disasterous results. Takes off the lacquer, and needs a re-spray.
What you need is a very mild polish designed to remove light scratches and swirls. Anything too abrasive like rubbing compound (unless you are very careful) and you could do more damage to the surrounding area.
I suppose it all depends on how deep the scratches are. If they are fairly light, then a mild rubbing polish, or paint cleaner polish will do the trick. Might take quite wa bit of rubbing to get the desired results, but this is much better than removing too much paint/lacquer in 20 seconds.
Using a variety of such materials, I recently removed some scratches on a neighbours Saab, which had been inflicted by a shopping trolley. Some bits had big chunks missing out of the lacquer, which there was nothing I could do to help, but all the light/white coloured scratches were removed with about 30 minutes work to the point the the previously eye catching scratches were now invisible, unless you were closer than about 12 - 18 inches.

Swissol Pre-Wax paint cleanser worked for me. I had a couple of very fine scratches around the driver's door handle and some light grazes on the drivers wing mirror where some twonker had obviously not left himself enuff room to get past. Both came out quite well with the paint cleanser and then I waxed over the car afterwards.
Was wondering about using Scratch X tho' - anyone got experiences to share?

Meguiar's Scratch X
Click on the Products link for info on Meguiar's products including Scratch X. I use Meguiar's products on my Scoob and although I haven't used Scratch X myself I have seen the results on my mate's car - pretty impressive.
