That STI8 rear wing and motorways...
#1
To all you new STI8 owners...
How do you find the rear wing when on long roads like motorways? Does it block all the traffic (and blue flashing lights) from anything over 30meters away?
What about A/B road driving - does it cause inconvenience?
Cheers - Rich

I've got the prodrive rear wing on my classic (similar to yours )and yes it does block out other traffic /blue lights ,but you get used to it . The good side is it also blocks out badly adjusted headlights when they are behind you (slotting it into 3rd and flooring it also cures this !).

Haven't seen any blue flashing lights yet - not sure if that is because of the rear wing or the fact I am still running it in
It does obscure some of the view, but you get used to it - was the same thing with the spoiler on MY99. Probably more noticeable on the motorway as I am more concerned with how close cars are to me - just gives me a marker as to when they are TOO close!

PShaven't forgotten the photos, will sort out tomorrow.

My Rallitech cost me 3 points last weekend.
Well, I suppose it wast *really* the wings fault....
You are going to get a certain amount of obscured vision with any high wing, especially VAS cars tailing you from a couple hundred metres back.

yes it gets in the way due to my seating position. but it's more a long distance thing (1000yds). i've got used to adjusting angle as i use the mirror.
no blue flashing lights yet, but then i don't really go over 90 much on motorways.

i have the classic prodrive spoiler and yes downside is u cant see the blues n 2's but good side is it stops all those misaligned headlights.
a quick squirt on the power helps rear end drop so u can get a view of the motors behind

i can confirm sti8 has door mirrors. and i do use them - the rear wing is only marginally visable. they probably aren't as big as yours though. although that's an idea ... they would match the scoop and the wing for oversized appendages !!

@ all with the new wrx/sti8 - when you say the wing wobbles at speed - above what speeds and how bad ?? Is it an oscillating wobble or just now and then?? Here in germany we often travel at over 200kph on the autobahn - has anyone been near this yet?? Also, what would be interesting is to have someone tape wool tufts on the rear (from window to wing) of their car and post up some photos of these tests - varying speeds etc...
