What sort of Mods will invalidate your warranty???

Unless it's part of the ppp then consider your warranty invalid

Dunno about the MY03 handbook but my MY01 handbook stated that if a component was replaced with another component of equal or better quality, the warranty would not be invalidated.
Your service manager plays a greater factor in what will/will not be replaced under warranty than an aftermarket exhaust ever will.
Speaking purely from personal experience. There are quiet a few modifications on my MY01 WRX and i've had a few warranty claims honoured...clutch and timing belt to name a few.
Just don't fit a hybrid turbo, full decat and EcuTec remap and expect a new engine should it go bang

I think it all depends on the dealerships view on mods.... I have asked my dealer, and they have said that as far as they were concerned one bb looks very much like another
Officially it's prodrive or nothing though.

I think as previous, its down to the dealer.
I've changed the BB,centre cat and resonator on my Sti8 and am told no probs with warranty
The BB etc is by Scorpion anyway. Scorpion make the exhausts for Prodrive by the way. Lets face it a decent exhaust is hardly going to damage anything is it. No boner for me.
I have claimed on warranty also with extra bits fitted to my car. Having said that I am on my thrid Scoob from the same dealer. The same dealer has had all my warranty and servicing work since 1998.
In other words they have had a lot of guaranteed money out of me. Would they really void the warranty.
Stop worrying and start modding IMO

My dealer SGT at Taplow said that as long as the downpipe is unchanged my warranty is OK, they even fitted the decat center and backbox for me.

we had a full decat on ours - when the gearbox and centre diff went, it was all replaced under warranty immediately, no questions, no haggling, they just got on with the job.

On speaking to my dealer, I've been informed me that Subaru South Africa will reject the claim for a new indicator/light switch unit because I have engine mods. I've asked for this in writing... Should know for sure in the next day or two.

Isn't IM in SA run by some dodgy Swiss guy who only cares about making money. The official IM line is if any cats are interfered with then Warranty is void. But again its up to the discretion of your service manager.

IM? The warranty states that any mods invalidate the warranty which I understand is the norm across manufacturers which is fair enough, but it's not as if removing the cats will damage the indicator stalk switch. Unless my understanding of how cars work is much worse than I thought...
