Hello all,

I'm looking to buy my first WRX and went along to see one in the trade area of a non-Subaru franchise. The car is a K Plate WRX imported in 1998 and was recently traded into the trader for an RB5 going out the way.

The car looks clean enough but one point made me a bit suspicious about the car's origin, the V5 has it as a "GL 1990".

I'm thinking that the '1990' part is the engine size. Dealer bloke says that this can be changed by the DVLA. I now have the info to check the Model Code is correct if I go back to see it so I can sort of check that.

However, has anyone else seen this on the V5 of an import or is the trader telling a few porkies ?

Many thanks in advance for any advice given.

Cheers

Davie

Thanks for the reply.

I was going to get an HPI if I was convinced it was genuine enough.

BTW - the previous owner was said to be a Scooby enthusiast from Livingston, West Lothian ( hence the upgrade to an RB5 ). If anyone has recently done such a deal in the West of Scotland, could you drop a note on here. I tried to give you a bell but you're Ex-Directory. Would be nice to find a bit more about the car's history.

Thanks again.
