I have been trying to source the factory build information of my STI 5 Type R and have come across the following information with numerical and alphebetical data. I dont know whether this refers to anything specific or not?
Any ideas????? If so , I can let you know what info I have off list.
EG classification: EJ20******
EG No.: *-******
Regards
Rob

Hi Tony
Yeah I have already checked the SIDC FAQ, but the numbers and letters next to the EJ20 dont breakdown the same as the chassis number.
I think they refer to the specific engine spec/build?

Yeah you could be right, however I think the bottom category is the engine number i.e. EG No 0-000000.......So am thinking that the EG Classification therefore is reference to the actual engine classification/specification.
Just need to find out who can decode the info.....if it means anything?

EJ20 is the engine model code for the subaru 2.0 litre the 2.5 legacy engine for example is an EJ25 engine code as far as I know.
I would have though to get build details you would need the engine number and chassis number off the VIN plate or your V5 document.

I have the details of the V5 and VIN etc , but have now sourced the above info which I believe refers to the engine build.
Just cannot find anyone that can decode what it stands for?

Another useful bit of info is knowing when the car was built (roughly). Check out the white label at the bottom of the driver side seat belt and it gives a date on there
.

as i said , I know what my chassis number is and it fits in with whats on the sidc and what you are eluding to in you post.
The additional info I have sourced is called the EG CLASSIFICATION and is made up of EJ20 then 6 alphanumeric characters.
The EG NO i believe refers to the engine number and that is 7 characters as you stated
