MY00 6 spoke wheels. Just had my tyres changed and the wheels rebalanced. The problem is that all four alloys have corroded where the previous balancing weights were. Is it worth trying to claim this on warranty or is it the fault of the garage that fitted the last set of tyres? They were fitted before I got the car, so I'm not sure who fitted them.

Any advice?

Thats a difficult one. I think you would have to be able to prove that it was the fault of the wheels and I can't see Subaru accepting that. Is the corrosion so bad that it has weakened the wheels?

I don't think they're any weaker, but the finish has definitely come off and is bubbling.

Will post pics this afternoon.

Thought the balancing weights should go on the inside - never outside on an alloy wheel ?!

Subaru said they would only balance it on the outside, don't know why.

I've had 2 of mine rebalanced when changing tyres, so I now have the same corroded square where the old balancing weight was

I've had alloys with balancing weights on them for the last ten yrs or so, and never seen marks like these. They must be crap quality wheels - I'm glad to see I'm not the only one this has happened to.

I've informed the main dealer that I bought the car from last year. Awaiting their response.
