Mine's a 1995 STi import (that is, a V2 STi) and it revs to 7000. I have it from Pete Croney that this is limited by the hydraulic tappets, and that later versions rev to 8250. Is yours a V2 or a V3?

That is interesting about the tappets Softwizz, first time I have seen that mentioned. My STI 1 has the red line starting at 7000 and I have not bothered to find out where the rev limiter cuts in.

The max power is developed at about 6250 RPM I think and with the close ratio box it doesnt improve overall acceleration to go above that anyway. It will shorten the life of your engine though if you do!

Mine is a March 1996 Sti making it a V2. I was just a little concerned that all I had read about them said they revved to 8000.

yeah mags do that all the time. And importers for that matter. they get the latest spec and stick that to all models.

beelzebub, don't worry m8! mine's a 96 sti also n it only revs to 7000 also. this is right for a version 2 - or so i have been informed since i asked the same question as you!

Doing a little reasearch on the net I have read on more than 1 site that a 1996 STi (import) should rev to 8000RPM. Mine hits 7000RPM and the rev limiter cuts in. I have the red manifold, alloy thingies on the front, strut brace etc. Should I be concerned?
