Keep P1 or UK sti8 ppp ?
#1
Had my P1 for 2 years. love her to bits. We've got 2 cars which are both coupes, and an 8 month old baby with all the associated paraphanalia. I wanted to get a used Audi A8 for "big trips" as well but "someone" is't happy about me having 2 cars
So last night she says, the new sti's got four doors (for those who dont have kids 2 doors makes it a real chore) - why dont you look at one of those
Anyway the reason I write....... Anyone swapped their P1 for a UK sti8 with ppp?
The feeling of speed is quite important, how do they differ?
I will go and test one this week if I can, but I thought I'd fish for advice first
cheers

Funnily enough I prefer 2 door cars when carting the kids about. A lot more room to move about in as the front seats don't go far forward enough when strapping the littl'un in.
If you're happy with the P1 and not really worried about depreciation etc you really should keep it.
Take a baby seat with you when you look at the STi and see how you feel messing about with it.

Thanks for the replies so far. Appears not so many people have sti8's yet
Brun. Its a bit of a dilemma. We'd like a bigger car. My missus has a Peugeot 307 which is a small family car, but its just not big enough to go on holiday / visiting etc. She wouldn't like to drive anything bigger really every day.
My wife likes her car and doesnt want to give it up. I love my car and I dont want to give it up !!!!
And I'm not allowed to get an A8 as well !!!! Aaaaargh.

I loved my P1 too, and still miss it. However, I was a little fed up with having two doors. Apart from not having the kids climbing in and out, it's nice to be able to get out of the car again when I park.
Although I still miss the P1, I have absolutely no regrets about getting the STi. It's a little less uncompromising to drive, is quieter inside, has better build quality, feels more balanced, has better turn in, handles well and is quicker point to point.

I've driven both, and to be honest the P1 is still the car I would have. It's rawer in every respect, just like a road rally car should be. The speed and performance is quite similar to the sti ppp, the P1 is just a fraction faster in places the sti in other places, but it would be nip and tuck if the same driver drove both over the same road. Also the P1 in years to come as long as it has lowish miles and is unmolested will certainly be the car people will want. Oh and it looks better!
