Cost of ownership
#1
As the company car rules where I work are changing, I'm trying to work out how much my Scooby is costing per mile, including Fuel (optimax) tyres, insurance, and servicing. At present this is coming out at around 35p per mile, does this sound about right for a MY02 WRX unmodded?? At the moment my company is only offering 12p per mile!!! Maybe I'll have to swap to a Smart car, at least that still has a turbo.

12p per mile won't even cover fuel. Can you get your company to pay you petrol plus a monthly allowance.
Remember you can claim money back off the tax man as you are allowed 45p for 4000 miles and then 25p per mile after that.
Figures may not be accurate, but no far away.

Assumming 12,000 miles a year on a MY02 :
insurance 700 (just a guess)
tax 160
fuel (@25mpg and 85p a litre) = 1850
tyres ( a set a year) = 450
brakes pads = 140
servicing = 400
total = £3700
cost per mile 31p
But thats a guesstimate and plenty of unknowns in that.
